Posted December 14, 200717 yr comment_5425257 These two match up really well. Hansen's big bumping and selling carry this, and Inoki is always awesome when the crowd is hot and he's booked to look good (read: most of the time). Hansen tries to wrestle Inoki. FAILED. Hansen then tries to brawl Inoki. FAILED. This would be better if Hansen was more dominant but it's still really good. Feels like a New Japan version of a Ric Flair/Lex Luger match. Definite nomination. (NJC 80)
May 5, 200817 yr comment_5431068 I was in a different frame of mind when I watched this. Here are my thoughts... Antonio Inoki vs. Stan Hansen (NWF Title) - I know these two met a bunch in the 70s so I am not going to try and revisit those matches to judge this series. Early on, Inoki tries to keep Hansen grounded because when Hansen hits an elbow, Inoki has to go outside to collect his thoughts. Inside, Hansen applies a full nelson but eventually Inoki gets him on the ground and locks in the Indian Deathlock. They continue to trade holds but nothing inspiring or nasty looking. Inoki locks on the Octopus but Hansen falls back to break the hold. Shortly after, Hansen hit sthe lariat and the match begins to pick up. However, it ends shortly after Hansen knocks Inoki off the apron with a sick Lariat and gets the countout win. The hot stretch didn’t last long enough and the match was too dull to consider for nomination.
November 27, 200816 yr comment_5436019 I thought this was pretty great, sure it started slow, but it was a early 80's title match, and I thought the mat work was pretty cool. The finish run I thought was great, and that final larait was decapitating. Plus post match with all the shit talking and celebration was great. Nomination for sure.

November 27, 200816 yr comment_5436021 There were points in the finish run that felt a little too back and forward to me. Like a Batista v Taker end run. Here is Inoki putting on the Octopus, and Hansen falling out which leads to Hansen throwing lariat and Inkio kicking out. But the brawl on floor leading to lariat on apron was really great. Eventually this might fall off but this is the best thing on this disk s far and I'd move it forward.
December 8, 200816 yr comment_5436260 This was really good. I didn't find the early matwork too slow at all as most of it felt fought over and they seemed to break it up with little punches or other bits of nastiness. I also didn't mind the back and forth nature of the finishing run. These guys were the two greatest forces in the promotion at this point so it only made sense that they'd shake off some big stuff and keep trading. It added to the big fight feel. Great finish too with that awesome lariat on the apron. This struck me as a pretty easy nomination.
August 10, 200916 yr comment_5442684 What a year and some perspective will do... Re-watched this and take back the boring thoughts. In fact, I thought this was much better than the one I watched earlier. Much stiffer, the holds I complained about earlier were pretty vicious if you pay attention to the little shit. Of course, the sick lariat at the end helps and this one goes forward.
