NWA Power Hour 10/13 - 10/27/89

10/13

Norman the Lunatic vs. Tommy Angel

- Squash

Wrestling News Network w/ Gordon Solie

Ric Flair vs. Dick Slater (Pro)

- This was going along just fine until Gary Hart busted Flair open. I guess this was when blood was not allowed on TV because they censor his entire face the rest of the way. I'll have to watch the Pro version to see if it is also blurred out.

Funk’s Grill w/ Steiner Bros.

New Zealand Militia vs. Road Warriors

- Quick and easy.

10/20

Samoan Savage vs. Tim Parker

- Squash

Wrestling News Network w/ Gordon Solie

Steiner Bros. vs. Cuban Assassin & Bob Cook

- No

Funk’s Grill w/ Ole Anderson

Great Muta vs. Eddie Gilbert

- Gilbert-Muta is a much better matchup than Murdoch-Muta. With that said, Muta is doing alot of the same legwork spots that he used with Murdoch. And to his credit, Gilbert tries to keep it interesting. Much better finish with Gilbert scaring off Gary Hart outside. As he is going through the ropes, Muta hits a sweet kick that keeps Gilbert down for the three. I'll be interested to hear what Phil and Tom say about this but I'll nominate it to keep it in the discussion.

10/27 (partial)

Terry Funk vs. Italian Stallion

- I prefer Funk-Eddie for Funk ass kickings but neither should be on the set.

Wrestling News Network w/ Gordon Solie

SST & Samoan Savage vs. Tommy Rich, Scott Hall & Richard Sartain

-1 guess on who did the jobe here.

Flair vs Slater

This is 10/13/89 from the Power Hour. Flair is on fire to start. Flair is working his brawling style mixed in with his Flair style. So it's like he's working Terry Funk. It's Flair with an edge to him. Flair is just going after the leg with different moves that culminates with the Figure 4. Slater makes the rope. Some more nastyness from Flair and we get an eye poke from Slater. Slater begins his heat segment. The heels are using a towel behind the refs back. Gary Hart is working his ass off on the apron. Slater is working over Flair on the floor. All of Slater's offense is straight and to the point. Flair is busted open. Flair begins to make his comeback from the floor. So Flair returns the favor from earlier and beats on Slater on the floor. He pops Hart for good measure. Back in the ring you think they are going to the finish, but they cross me up and Slater cuts Flair off. Slater is working Flair's cut. Though now it's comeback time for Flair and he's a house of fire. Slater gives up and walks away for a shitty c.o. Solid Nomination

Great Muta vs Eddie Gilbert

I'll go no. The match told a story that was easy to understand. It wasn't all that interesting . Not a bad match per say. It's just lacked a spark to it.

NWA Power Hour 10/13/89

Norman the Lunatic vs. Tommy Angel (10/2/89)

Total squash.

Next we get WNN talking about Havoc.

"Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. "Dirty" Dick Slater (9/18/89)

Slater calls out Flair who comes running out and kicks Slater right in the back then starts working over Slater. Gary Hart helps out Slater by using a towel and this allows Slater to get control. They tried to blur Flair's face when he started bleeding as Slater attacked his cut on the floor so yeah we will definitely have to use the NWA Pro version for this. Flair makes a spirited comeback and attack both Slater & Hart that sees both of them walking out. I thought this was a very fun match but I'm not quite as high on this as Pete was although I still think it's a low-end nomination.

Then we get Funk's Grill with the Steiners again and this is a hoot as Terry gives his love advice to them. Extra material.

The Road Warriors (Animal & Hawk) vs. The New Zealand Militia (Rip Morgan & Jacko Victory) (10/2/89)

This is a good matchup for the Roadies as the Milita has the same type of style they had and the match was fine.

Cornette & Ross announced that the Roadies won Wrestlers of the Week.

NWA Power Hour 10/20/89

Samoan Savage vs. Tim Parker (10/9/89)

Savage makes his debut along with Sir Oliver Humperdink as The Big Kahuna and squashes Parker.

Next we get WNN.

Rick & Scott Steiner vs. Bob Cook & Cuban Assassin (10/9/89)

The highlight of this was Rick wearing Assassin's hat and glasses no doubt.

Then we get Funk's Grill with Ole Anderson which was awesome. Extra material.

NWA World TV Title: The Great Muta © vs. "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert (10/9/89)

Gilbert gets another shot at Muta and this time the title is on the line. Gilbert gets some offense in early before Muta takes him to the mat where he works over his ankle. Gilbert fights back on the mat but Muta would maintain the advantage. Gilbert would eventually make a fun comeback just firing shots at Muta and he had him reeling even hitting the Hot Shot but Gary Hart saved Muta so Gilbert went to the floor and decked Hart. Gilbert comes back in and Muta caught him with a back kick to get the win. Very fun match and I'll co-sign a low-end nomination.

Cornette & Ross then award the Wrestlers of the Week award to The Skyscrapers.

NWA Power Hour 10/27/89

Terry Funk vs. Italian Stallion (10/16/89)

This was a fun Terry Funk TV match for this era as he sells for Stallion while doing his schtick.

Next we get WWN talking about Havoc.

Samoan Savage & The Samoan Swat Team (Fatu & Samu) vs. Scott Hall, Tommy "Wildfire" Rich, & Richard Sartain (10/16/89)

What a six-man team that is on the babyface side and they made it competitive for a while.
