Posted December 16, 200717 yr comment_5425352 “Ravishing” Rick Rude vs. “Macho Man” Randy Savage (9/3/84) This was a first round match in a Cadillac Cup tournament in Memphis and the only time these two met in a singles match at Mid-South Coliseum. Savage is now a big babyface and Hart gets on his nerves early in the match so he chases him to the back but he would come back. There is a lot of stalling before we get some action with Savage getting Rude in an Airplane Spin that went on for a long time and Rude was so dizzy he fell through the ropes to the floor. Savage jumps on the ringside table and throws his confetti on Rude pissing him off and they get back in the ring. Savage is still pissed at Hart and invites him in the ring but he declines although he would distract Savage long enough for Rude to jump him throwing him to the floor. Rude would post Savage sending him to the concrete floor and gets back in the ring with help from Angelo. Rude continues his attack slamming Savage into the turnbuckle then drops him neck first on the top rope as Hart talks shit on the house mic. Rude kept the pressure on Savage until Savage would reverse an irish whip with a backdrop then started firing punches to his head. Savage then slammed Rude’s head into the turnbuckle repeatedly before grabbing him by the nose and sending him to the floor where he would hit his patented diving axehandle off the top rope. Savage then grabbed a chair but Hart would grab it from him so Savage sends the action back to the ring where he would hit a cross body block off the top rope but Paul Morton followed the chase of Angelo & Hart to the back. Bundy shows up and hits Savage with a foreign object which Rude follows up with an elbow smash for the win. This was fun stuff but not a nomination. Bruiser Brody & Scott Casey vs. Kelly Kiniski & The Spoiler (not Don Jardine) (early 1982) This is from the Junction and more of a squash match. King Kong Bundy & “Ravishing” Rick Rude vs. Jerry “The King” Lawler & “Macho Man” Randy Savage (9/10/84) Lawler & Savage are teaming up for the first time to face their common allies. The fans are apeshit for Savage here coming in taking potshots at Bundy as he is in the ring with Lawler. Bundy would accidentally knock Rude to the floor so Savage comes over running to Rude and smashes his head on the ringside table. Bundy would throw Lawler in the corner going for the running splash but Savage would pull Lawler out of the corner making Bundy miss and the crowd is eating this up. Rude tags in and demands Savage come in to which he does and Rude takes a beating including the diving double axehandle to the floor. Bundy grabs a chair to beat Savage but Savage picks up one of the security posts to counter forcing Bundy to walk away. Rude & Bundy would trap Lawler in their corner and started pounding on him but Lawler uses his great punches on both to get away. Rude then becomes a pinball being bounced around by both men’s punches and Savage uses his awesome Airplane Spin rendering both men dizzy. Bundy tags in and has a standoff with Savage then spits on him really setting Savage off as just tees off on Bundy hitting a cross body block for a nearfall. Lawler tags in and Bundy just dominates him with Rude tagging in and getting his shots in as well along with taunting Savage. Lawler takes a lot of punishment here and Savage gets pissed off so he jumps in the ring starts pounding on Bundy then follows Rude to the floor where he beats on him. Bundy would miss a splash and Lawler starts firing up then drops the strap and starts waylaying Bundy with punches tagging in Savage who hits the diving axehandle on Rude. The action then goes to the floor with Lawler using a chair on Bundy and Savage hitting Rude with the ring steps. Lawler then uses an object on both Rude & Bundy and it ends up being a wild brawl going to the back with the heels winning by DQ. This was phenomenal and a slam dunk nomination. International Heavyweight Title: “Macho Man” Randy Savage © vs. “The Universal Heartthrob” Austin Idol (5/14/84) Savage jumps Idol from behind before the match using a crutch from Angelo whose leg was injured by Idol. Savage is mega pissed because of the injury and goes for his diving double axehandle to the floor early both inside and outside the ring. Savage just anniliated Idol on the floor using a running kick to the head and rapid punches before rolling him back in the ring for more punishment. Savage gets a couple of nearfalls after elbow smashes and keeps up the pressure but the crowd is trying to get Idol going. Savage gets another nearfall then thinks he won the match but Idol would catch him in a schoolboy for another nearfall that really angers Savage. Savage would hit Idol with the crutch again then dropped him neck first on the top rope as he jumped to the floor. Savage then hit another diving double axehandle for another nearfall and this gets Idol going so he starts firing back at Savage before they have a double collision. Savage is up first and starts firing the punches with Idol getting fired up and he makes his big comeback throwing some nice punches then pummels him in the corner. Idol would then throw him to the other side where Savage went in head first then Idol started pounding him on the mat before trying an atomic drop but Savage would reverse. Idol though would grab Savage’s leg and took him down going into the Las Vegas Leglock in a great spot. Savage cries out in pain with Angelo trying to help him but it’s to no avail as Savage submits. This was a great sprint with Savage looking tremendous and Idol working hard for him so I think this goes on the block. Southern Heavyweight Title: “Ravishing” Rick Rude © vs. “Wildfire” Tommy Rich (7/16/84) We are JIP at 5:00 in the match and Rich has Tojo in his corner to counter Hart & Angel who is looking good in her red spandex. Rich is looking pretty fat here and he takes quite a beating from Rude but would fire it up and made his comeback using the sleeper hold but Rude slams him into the corner before a double collission that Rich didn’t sell so Rich would run into Jerry Calhoun instead. Tojo & Hart get in the ring and go at it with Angel coming in giving Rude a chain, which brings out Lawler who slams their heads together. Lawler then nails Rude with the chain and Rich wins the title becoming a double champ. The match was sloppy but the finish was great. AWA World Heavyweight Title: Nick Bockwinkel © vs. Jerry “The King” Lawler (10/25/82) I’m pretty sure that is the correct date but these two had so many matches in this period. This is clipped up really good and the action shown here is great but it’s too clipped up on this disc to even think about nominating. International Heavyweight Title: “Macho Man” Randy Savage © vs. “The Universal Heartthrob” Austin Idol (5/7/84) These two have been in a heated feud for the past couple of weeks and Idol is really pissed after Savage spits on him then runs to the floor. Savage would sneak back in attacked Idol and hits the Macho Man Elbow off the top rope early for a nearfall. Savage then starts firing the punches before throwing him to the floor where he would try his diving double axehandle but Idol would catch in the gut then posted him. The action would go back to the ring with Idol punching Savage a bit before chunking back to the floor where he would continue his attack slamming his head into the ringside table. Savage though would rake Idol in the eyes and hit him in the head with the title belt before rolling back into the ring. Idol takes a bit to get him but he is bloody and Savage hits him as soon as he gets to his feet breaking the count. Savage would then throw Idol back in the ring where he would continue the punishment but the bloody Idol would try to fight back cradling Savage for a nearfall. Savage wasn’t fazed though and continued the attack using his rapid punches that Idol would have enough of before he started firing his own. The bloody Idol is fired up and would hit a diving elbow drop off the middle rope but didn’t go for a pin because he wanted to deliver more punishment to which he did. Idol bites at Macho’s head before going for another elbow drop but Savage rolled out of the way. Savage would go for a kneedrop off the middle rope though and missed leading to Idol working on that knee to go for the Las Vegas Leglock. Idol would get distracted by Angelo though before locking in the hold and Angelo would sneak Savage a foreign object that he used to KO Idol behind Paul Morton’s back to win the match. This was some good solid action but not as good as their match a week later though even with the blood. A borderline nomination.

I have a more complete version on a few DVDs, I know Will has a couple of them.
December 24, 200717 yr comment_5425839 Again just watched the Memphis “Ravishing” Rick Rude vs. “Macho Man” Randy Savage (9/3/84) Man Savage was fun in this, I loved his leap over the ring floor ropes to chase Hart. Rude is really green though, and this was a Savage one man show. For a Savage one man show on this set, I don't think this was as good as the Idol matches. King Kong Bundy & “Ravishing” Rick Rude vs. Jerry “The King” Lawler & “Macho Man” Randy Savage (9/10/84) Totally awesome blast. I loved all of the early heel bumping around for Lawler and Savage, and Lawler is a great babyface in peril. Savage on the WWF set didn't do a ton for me, but Memphis Savage was the truth. I loved the dueling spitting in the face between Savage and Bundy. The crazy finish was awesome too, as Lawler was just tossing that heavy looking chair at Bundy. International Heavyweight Title: “Macho Man” Randy Savage © vs. “The Universal Heartthrob” Austin Idol (5/14/84) I had never seen an actually good Austin Idol match before. You watch this series and you can understand how Savage had such good matches wiht Ultimate Warrior and Dennis Rodman. Savage is just flying all over the place, and Idol doesn't have to do much but get the crowd behind him. Finish was totally awesome, and you just don't see clean submission finishes like that in the 80's. Southern Heavyweight Title: “Ravishing” Rick Rude © vs. “Wildfire” Tommy Rich (7/16/84) Yeah this was mediocre, I loved face Tojo cleaning house though International Heavyweight Title: “Macho Man” Randy Savage © vs. “The Universal Heartthrob” Austin Idol (5/7/84) Unlike Kris, I think this was the better of the two Savage v. Idol matches. Just felt more out of control, especially in the beginning with Savage flying to the outside into Idol's fist. Plus blood, and dueling flying elbows. Not as awesome a finish, but I loved the fuck out of both of them.
