The Freebirds vs. The Road Warriors

- The Birds bump around for the Roadies until Hawk gets himself DQed for throwing the referee out of the way.

Doom vs. Eddie Gilbert & Tommy Rich

- The New Fabs get little offense in and are quickly taken out by Doom.

Steiner Bros. Interview

The Midnight Express vs. Dynamic Dudes

- In this match, Jim Cornette is staying neutral and not going for either team. I had heard about the Dudes being booed and this is as good an example as any of them playing the faces in the match but the fans shitting all over them. Great sequence that ends with Douglas flying over the top rope with a body press onto Bobby Eaton which sends them into the guard rail. It really is surreal to see the MX getting cheers while the Dudes receive loud boos when on offense. Great finish with Cornette preventing Eaton form using a chain but whacks Douglas with the racquet and getting a huge pop form the crowd. I don't actually think this was a great tag but the atmosphere begs for a nomination.

Steve Williams pinned The Super Destroyer (Jack Victory) (1:41).

- Squash

Rick & Scott Steiner beat The Skyscrapers

- The crowd was really hot for this.

Lex Luger vs. Brian Pillman

- Another great Luger match in 1989. Seriously, I could watch Luger vs. Pillman anytime. There was some sloppiness involved but the body was good enough to overlook this. The ending was also great with Luger smashing a chair on PIllman for the pin leading to him working Pillman over with the chair and putting him in the Torture Rack. Sting comes in to end the carnage and it results in Sting slapping Luger. Solid nomination.

Ric Flair vs. Terry Funk (I Quit)

- When I watched this match two years ago, I thought it was such a letdown that I kept harping on the match I wanted to see instead of appreciating the match in front of me. I still think there are some flaws with the match and some dead spots but this is still a definite nomination even if it will rank lower than other matches from both guys. I think that when compared to some of the better gimmick matches on the set, it won't look as good but when compared to what was happening at the time, you can't really fault the match for a lack of blood when it wasn't allowed. I don't think this is a ***** must-see classic but it is well worth watching. I'll be interested in seeing where this lands and how it fares against the GAB match.
