Posted December 19, 200717 yr comment_5425582 Sting vs. Mike Rotunda - A lot of stalling and not much action the first ten minutes. It picks up in the end but I know Loss said he enjoyed a 1989 matchup alot so this could probably be ditched. Midnight Express & Jim Cornette Interview (Possible Extra) Jimmy Garvin vs. Al Perez - For Garvin singles matches, I thought this was much better than the Garvin-Arrmstrong Starrcade match and the weak match they had on Supertowns on the Superstation. However, I am on the fence as far as nominations go. I'll let you guys watch this. Gary Hart Interview Four Horsemen Interview (EXTRA) Lex Luger, Dr. Death & Nikita Koloff vs. Ric Flair, Barry Windham & Arn Anderson - The faces just massacre the Horsemen early on and the crowd is going nuts. Doc, Luger and Nikita ll get the chance to shine as the Horsemen just bump and stooge, making the power guys look like a million bucks. It also helps that the crowd is eating it up. The tide turns when Flair draws LUger into the Horsemen corner and Arn Anderson racks him while the ref is not looking. Luger ends up playing face in peril and the Horsemen all look excellent in attacking him like sharks. Flair makes the mistake of going to the top rope because Luger just launches him across the ring. He gets the tag to Nikita but that doesn't do much good as Anderson just blasts him in the ribs and the Horsemen go to work on him as well. Eventually all hell breaks loose and it ends in a double countout but this was rocking while it lasted. Easy nomination. Midnight Express vs. The Fantastics (2/3 falls) - The 1st fall is all about giving the Fans the shine and I think I like the Lane MX vs. Fans much more than Condrey MX vs. Fans. However, I think Condrey MX worked better with the RNR. The ending saw the MX take over but Rogers caught Lane with a flash small package. The 2nd fall picks up with the MX on offense and Lane and Eaton are just monsters. I guess Eaton had discovered the backbreaker because he is doing all kinds of backbreaker variations. Fulton tries to fight off the MX to make a tag but Cornette comes in and whacks him with the racquet to give the MX to tie it up. The third fall doesn't last long as the MX abuse Fulton some more but he gets a lucky pinfall after Bobby Eaton falls back and he was in the right position to win the match. After the match, the MX lay waste to the Fans. I really enjoyed this match. THere were some dead spots when the Fans were in control but the 2nd fall was solid gold. Midnight Express Interview
February 27, 20169 yr comment_5729684 Sing vs Rotunda Solid bout, but no. MX EXPRESS EXTRA Jimmy Garvin vs Al Perez Another solid match Gary Hart interview EXTRA Horsemen interview-EXtra Flair/Arn/Windham vs Williams/Luger/Nikita I'll give this a high end nomination. Damn it's on to start with the Horseman bailing. They are building to a 4 man elimination cage match. The faces just kick the crap out of the Horseman. Doc was just amazing with the pressing of Windhamand then Arn. Eventually the Horseman get the heat on Luger and was like a pack of wolves. Then Nikita takes his turn. We build to a count out which is a great finish if you're building to a cage match. MX vs Fantastics 2 out of 3 I'll give this a solid nomination. A lot of neat stuff and of course plenty of tag team psychology. The 1st fall we see a great Fantastics shine. Fulton throwing hands was great . He really should be talked about with some if the great punchers. I loved the trapping of Lane when they ran up and down. The finish of the 2nd fall was great. Ref missed the hot tag. Gets distracted by putting Rogers out. Cornette in with a racket. The punch exchange between Fulton and Eaton was gold. 3rd fall was quick .
April 12, 20178 yr comment_5796903 NWA Pro Houston 6/18/88NWA World TV Title: "Captain" Mike Rotundo © vs. Sting (6/10/88)Rotundo coming out to totally different marching band music was great and Sting also had totally different music as well. Also great seeing Boyd Pierce doing the ring announcing. Slow start and both men would get some offensive shine until Rick Steiner ran in for the DQ. Okay match nothing special.Next we get a promo from the MX & Cornette about their upcoming Bunkhouse Brawl with the Fantastics in Houston. Cornette & Boesch reunited was great."Latin Heartthrob" Al Perez vs. "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin (6/10/88)Perez starts out strong taking the battle to Garvin and Gary Hart even gets involved smashing a steel chair on Garvin's back on the floor. Garvin would make a comeback quickly as he would slam Perez on the floor then took it back to the ring where he kept up the pressure. Both men would then trade offense and the pace was pretty good with both men throwing lots of punches. Kevin Sullivan was with Paul Boesch then attacked Garvin from behind allowing Perez to get the win. Again another okay match but nothing special. Then we get a promo from Gary Hart trying to rally the Latinos to root for Perez against Nikita.NWA Pro Houston 6/25/88Next we get Paul Boesch interviewing the Four Horsemen and JJ Dillon in full which was an awesome sight with Boesch goading Dillon as Dillon said that Boesch had a sick mind for booking cage and scaffold matches. Flair then talks about why the Horsemen are great. Extra material just because of the Boesch element."The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, & Barry Windham vs. "Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff, "Total Package" Lex Luger, & "Dr. Death" Steve Williams (6/10/88)This is from Houston and the Horsemen are trying to come to the ring but Luger chases them away before they come back. Awesome seeing Boyd Pierce sitting ringside as the ring announcer. The faces are very strong early on especially Luger who takes it all 3 Horsemen here then Doc would come in and the Horsemen are bumping and selling like crazy at this point especially Arn who was stooging his ass off. Nikita came in and we got more of the same with a fun spot where Flair suplexed Nikita who got up and tagged Luger as Flair was celebrated and Luger throttled him. Arn would cheapshot Luger from the apron though and he was caught in the Horsemen's corner so the Horsemen went to work on him vigorously. Luger would sneak a tag to Nikita who came in firing away but the Horsemen would catch him and then started working him over hard. Nikita at this stage was really good working as the FIP and was taking all the Horsemen's big moves but still was kicking out. Luger got the hot tag and he chased Flair out to the floor where he would post him then threw him back in the ring with Flair now juicing and Luger working over the cut viciously. The match now breaks down into a wild brawl with Tommy Young counting both Flair & Luger out. This was a very fun match and just a cool match to watch in general since it was in Houston. Fairly easy nomination.NWA Pro Houston 7/2/882 out of 3 Falls Match for the US Tag Titles: The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) © vs. The Midnight Express ("Beautiful" Bobby Eaton & "Sweet" Stan Lane) (6/10/88)Great seeing these teams face off in Houston again and in the 1st fall the Fants look great just taking it to the MX with the rope running spot with Lane and the Fants being the highlight of the fall. 2nd fall saw the MX take control and they really took it to both Fants here. Cornette was also getting involved a lot more in this fall including the finish where he whacked Fulton in the back with the racquet causing him to get pinned. The 3rd fall saw the MX continue beating on Fulton but he would get a quick cradle counter on an Eaton pinfall to win the fall which was a cool finish. Cornette then beat them down with the racquet after the match. The match was pretty damn good and moves forward fairly easily.
