Posted December 20, 200718 yr comment_5425617 This is a TV version of this classic match. Dundee turns on Lawler earlier on the TV show and taunts him into putting up his title. They have a fun TV match full of great looking punches, and Dundee wins with a chain. You also have to show the angle with Lawler gettting a rematch by threatening to bust up Dundee's sports car. December 21, 200718 yr comment_5425687 Definite yes vote. I really think you have to start with the Lawler/Dundee/Fabs promo and go from there.
December 21, 200718 yr comment_5425714 I think you have it...it's on the DVDs from Rick labeled Memphis '85 & '87.
December 21, 200718 yr comment_5425717 OK, got it. Before I start copying stuff and distributing and collecting, we need to list all of the Memphis we have and what I need to pick up from you. I'll post my list sometime tonightn when I get home.
January 7, 200818 yr comment_5426555 Finally watched this all the way through, and it does feel like a nomination, but it makes me want to iron out the criteria more for the Memphis set as it's a 5 minute match (though an excellent 5 minute match) and I'm not sure if we'd feel the same way without the promos and angles that come before and after the match. If we're weighing surrounding promos/angles for studio matches (like we're weighing post-match brawls), I have no problem with it, but I'd like to know for sure so I can consider them when nominating other matches.
January 7, 200818 yr comment_5426558 We'll take a wait and see approach after looking at the list. If it feels more like an extra then we will add it to the extras.
January 30, 200817 yr comment_5427699 Southern Heavyweight Title vs. Hair: Jerry “The King” Lawler © vs “Superstar” Bill Dundee (10/19/85) Jesus there was some awesome punches thrown here by both men and a mega hot crowd. The rest of the action was great too as I don’t think these two could have a bad match with each other. Lawler drops the strap and goes to town on Dundee but he would pull a chain out and jacked Lawler’s jaw to win the title. Dundee now becomes the #1 contender for the NWA World Heavyweight Title in the area. Dundee then cuts a celebration promo afterwards before Lawler comes out for a war of words. Lawler then threatens to bash Dundee’s car in if he doesn’t sign a return match contract and goes to the parking lot to do it with the fans egging him on. Dundee finally agrees to sign it. This is a definite nomination.
July 12, 200817 yr comment_5432827 Still bugging Tim for an update on the "mix" Also, this is an easy nomination and a candidate for #1.
July 12, 200817 yr comment_5432828 #1??? This is the 5 minute match from the Dundee turn show, not the Loser Leaves Town.
