Posted December 23, 200717 yr comment_5425803 I'm going to guess that the consensus will be "no" but I figure I'd throw these out there as things that maybe should be included under the Memphis banner: - ICW Poffo. I know Kris is against this, but since there's very little ICW footage and they sort of become the same promotion eventually, it's worth discussing. - CWA/WCCW/AWA combined tapings for AWA TV from 9/17, 9/18, & 9/19/88. Shows were booked and promoted by Jerry Jarrett in his towns, but branded AWA for TV (and since Superclash was AWA branded).
December 23, 200717 yr comment_5425804 I would have to watch the AWA shows, see what the feel was. It is almost like the Potter Stewart quote about pornography. As far as the Poffo fed, I think that should go with Memphis.
December 23, 200717 yr comment_5425807 I thought we were going by home town rule? CWA/WCCW/AWA combined tapings for AWA TV from 9/17, 9/18, & 9/19/88. I would probably put these under AWA unless Lance Russell is calling the action.
December 24, 200717 yr Author comment_5425808 Lance doesn't do commentary, as for some reason he was kept off the tapings even though all of the other promotions' had their announcers get face time (including David McLane for POWW who didn't have any wrestlers at the taping). Michael St. John (a Jarrett announcer) does the ring announcing. Those tapings are an odd case. Other than Lee Marshall's commentary and the logos, they don't feel like AWA shows much of the time. They were very CWA & WCCW talent heavy, booked by Jarrett, and run in Jarrett arenas. The matchlists for those shows (hopefully Vintage releases them soon): 10/1/88 - CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING (Nashville, TN - 9/17/88) -SUPERCLASH III Press Conference -Badd Company vs. Ray Odyssey & Shawn Baxter -Manny Fernandez vs. Sonny Street -Wahoo McDaniel vs. Sid Striker -Michael Hayes & Steve Cox vs. The Samoan Swat Team (Samu & Fatu) 10/1/88 - ALL STAR WRESTLING (Nashville, TN - 9/17/88) -Madusa Micelli vs. Wendi Richter 10/8/88 - CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING (Nashville, TN - 9/17/88) -The Top Guns vs. Beauty & The Beast -Col. January 11, 200817 yr Author comment_5426850 Since it's official that we're including Poffo's ICW now, how much do we even have at our disposal? I've been trying to set something up w/ BottomlessJack, should I see if he can rush converting his Spanish dubbed stuff?
January 11, 200817 yr comment_5426854 I have some of the Spanish dubbed stuff from Romdam. If you want to work something out wih BJ then go ahead but he has a track record of being spotty at best as a trader.
January 11, 200817 yr Author comment_5426861 I thought the latest on BJ was that he was coming through ok? I've heard more bad things about romdam lately.
January 11, 200817 yr comment_5426862 I dont hold much stock in either one. Phil heard that BJ was a snake of some sort that would use good traders o help his rep to burn other people.
January 11, 200817 yr comment_5426878 Was me. Bix there is an olc thread on BJ to look at for reference.
March 26, 200817 yr Author comment_5430003 If we're including the AWA tapings then somebody should pick up that whole run, from Khawk or whoever.
March 27, 200817 yr comment_5430052 Ok I'm in my thirties and too far sighted to be able to read his tape list (and holy fuck is he now doing play by plays of entire Daria episodes), but do we need to get a hold of tony Meyers Chattanooga and Gulas promoted stuff too?
March 27, 200817 yr comment_5430062 Gulas and Chatanooga would probably fit with Memphis. I don't know where else they could go besides Other.
