Not quite as good as you'd hope for but still a lot of fun. Nasty piledrivers, Hayes selling Lawler's punches tremendously, a really hyped up crowd, and Hayes even stabs referee Jerry Calhoun & cameraman Ken Parnell in their foreheads with scissors. Crappy finish, but it doesn't hurt the match too much. Definitely worth a nomination but I could see it dropping off depending on what we dig up.

Badstreet Match: "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol & Jerry "The King" Lawler vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry "Bamm Bamm" Gordy & Michael Hayes) (8/12/85)

King must not have gotten the memo here as he was in full ring gear while the rest were dressed for war. It's too bad that the Birds didn't do more shots in Memphis as they would've been great against the various face teams. Hayes was great here selling for the faces and Gordy was awesome of course kicking ass especially during his exchanges with Lawler which really made me want to see a singles match between them at this time. The dueling piledrivers between Lawler & Gordy was so fucking great as well. Idol breaking out scissors was great then the Birds using it to stab fools was even better. Definite nomination.
