Bruise Bros. vs Rock 'n' Roll Express

Bobby Eaton vs Buddy Landel (Louisville Gardens?)

Dennis Condrey vs Dutch Mantell (12/19/83?)

Jerry Lawler vs Bill Dundee (Louisville Gardens Fall '83)

Maybe technically better than some of the lesser nominations but none of them really grabbed me.

Bobby Eaton/Sweet Brown Sugar vs Bill Dundee/Bobby Fulton (8/2/82)

First match on this disc that really feels worthy. Lots of great schtick from Eaton & Sugar as well as their requisite big bumps, with a really nutty missed corner splash by Sugar and both guys taking ridiculous back bodydrops. There's a neat spot where Dundee takes a hip toss with a Lucha rolling bump so he can recover quickly. Fulton was fine and didn't ball up his fist while selling.

Taylor & Rougeau vs. Boyd & Williams (11/15/82 Coal Miner’s Glove)

Rougeau is really good at the pole-climbing spots. Match was nothing special otherwise.

Fabulous Ones vs New York Dolls (11/15/82)

Quick DQ, nothing to see here.

Fabulous Ones vs. Bobby Eaton/Dream Machine (11/22/82)

Jerry Lawler/Bill Dundee vs Jonathan Boyd/Luke Williams (11/22/82)

Perfectly fine but nothing special.

Bill Dundee/Jerry Calhoun vs Adrian Street/Jim Cornette/Miss Linda (1/2/83)

Bill Dundee/Jerry Calhoun vs Adrian Street/Jim Cornette/Miss Linda (1/10/83)

Pretty standard mixed tag stuff.

Bobby Eaton vs Bill Dundee (2/14/83)

Really, really solid. Nothing specific stands out but it was just very good and felt worth nominating.

Bobby Eaton vs Sweet Brown Sugar (2/14/83)

This was really short, really clipped, or maybe even both. Great while it lasted, but much too short to nominate. Might be worth including as an extra for Eaton's bump off a 2nd rope dropkick by Sugar.

Southern Tag Titles: The Bruise Brothers (Dream Machine & Porkchop Cash) © vs. The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) (11/21/83)

RnR are on the attack early due to the Bruisers beating up on Paul Morton a while back but the advantage would switch with a slingshot by Chops on Gibson into the corner. Gibson gets beat on for a while as they cut him off from tagging Morton but setup a very cool spot as Morton ran in the ring and hiptossed Gibson into their own corner so he could get the tag. Dundee would come out to distract Morton and led to him getting pinned by Dream. This was fun while it lasted.

Mid-America Heavyweight Title: “Nature Boy” Buddy Landell © vs. “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton (11/22/83)

I think this is from Louisville but I’m not sure. Landell uses a chain to win this short but fun match.

CWA Tag Titles: Dennis Condrey © vs. “Dirty” Dutch Mantell (11/21/83)

This is a singles match because Austin Idol wasn’t able to make the booking so Condrey wrestled Dutch with Norvell Austin being on the floor. Condrey is really vicious here with his strikes and really takes the beating to Dutch. Mantell would hit a big clothesline on Condrey and got a quick pinfall but led to a beatdown after the match by the heels until the RnR Express made the save.

Southern Heavyweight Title: Jerry “The King” Lawler vs. “Superstar” Bill Dundee (11/22/83)

Hart is with Dundee at ringside and Dundee is in full heel mode as he uses the hammer from the ringside table to work on Lawler. Lawler takes a beating from Dundee who uses his great punches and chop blocks to keep Lawler grounded. Dundee is great here with his shit heel tactics while mixing in his roughhouse offense. Lawler would drop the strap though and he started unloading punches on both Dundee & Hart along with a diving fistdrop off the middle rope but Russian Invader would run in for the DQ. Lawler would get beatdown until Dutch runs them off with Shoebaby. Shitty finish but I’m throwing this on the block because of how great Dundee was in this.

Bobby Eaton & Sweet Brown Sugar vs. “Superstar” Bill Dundee & Bobby Fulton (11/15/82)

Eaton & Sugar are awesome here as pinballs for the faces and they really make the green Fulton look good. Sugar takes a quasi Jerry bump from the corner and crashes on the floor hard but to his credit he keeps going like nothing happened. Dundee was great doing his slick face schtick causing Eaton to hit Sugar by accident a few times. Eaton & Sugar finally got the heat and they just worked over Fulton and Dundee as well for making them look bad. Dundee would have enough of Hart and would chase him around the ring leading to Fulton getting crushed by a double-team move by Eaton & Sugar. Very fun match and a nomination.

Coal Miners Glove: Jacques Rougeau & Terry Taylor vs. The Sheepherders (Jonathan Boyd & Luke Williams) (11/15/82)

This was all about who could climb the pole to get the glove early on in the match but it would settle down into more of a normal match. Taylor would take a beating from the Sheeps but got the hot tag to Rougeau who would clean house before climbing the pole to get the glove. Rougeau would then use the huge glove to bash some heads until Boyd clocked both faces with the flagpole. Dundee & Lawler would then chase them out of the ring. Fun stuff but not a nomination.

WWA Tag Titles vs. Southern Tag Titles: The New York Dolls (Dream Machine & Rick McGraw) © vs. The Fabulous Ones (Steve Keirn & Stan Lane) (11/15/82)

This is nothing but a 4-way brawl from the bell that would end fairly quick when Keirn threw down Paul Morton.

No DQ, No Time Limit for the Southern Tag Titles: The Fabulous Ones (Steve Keirn & Stan Lane) © vs. Dream Machine & “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton (11/22/82)

Eaton is subbing for the injured Rick McGraw. Fabs showed some great teamwork against the makeshift team The heels get the heat on Keirn and there are some great punches thrown in this by both Keirn & Eaton. It would soon break down into a 4-way brawl as Hart throws powder in Lane’s eyes and Hart tries to hit Keirn with his cane but his Dream instead. Keirn would get an inside cradle on Eaton then Sweet Brown Sugar would show up but would get nailed by Lane. McGraw then shows up and nails Keirn with an object from his cast with Eaton covering to win the titles. Fun stuff but again not a nomination.

The Sheepherders (Jonathan Boyd & Luke Williams) vs. “Superstar” Bill Dundee & Jerry “The King” Lawler (11/22/82)

Dundee had already worked once on this show and the Sheeps go after him especially. Lawler has enough and storms the ring making this a 4-way brawl but Boyd would load up his wrist protector and nailed Dundee for the win.

Handicap: “Superstar” Bill Dundee & Jerry Calhoun vs. “Exotic” Adrian Street, Jim Cornette, & Miss Linda (1/2/83)

About what you would expect as Dundee/Street had some fun stuff.

Handicap: “Superstar” Bill Dundee & Jerry Calhoun vs. “Exotic” Adrian Street, Jim Cornette, & Miss Linda (1/10/83)

This is the rematch and it’s pretty fun.

Mid-America Heavyweight Title Tournament – Semifinals: “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton vs. “Superstar” Bill Dundee (2/14/83)

Dundee working on Eaton’s left leg early was fun as he was slapping him in the face as he was applying the pain. Eaton used a chain to change the pace and he worked over Dundee using eyerakes and the like. Dundee would counter that though with bootlace rakes across the face and some great punches but Eaton used his chain again to stop the charge. Eaton would continue with his dirty tactics and Hart would help out too by tripping up Dundee as he was running the ropes. Dundee though would make his comeback using some great punches with Eaton countering with his own but Dundee would clock Jerry Calhoun by accident and got DQed for it. Shitty finish but still a damn good match and I’ll cosign Bix’s nomination.

Mid-America Heavyweight Title Tournament – Finals: “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton vs. Sweet Brown Sugar (2/14/83)

This was JIP but damn it was fun and too bad there isn’t enough for a nomination.

Bruise Bros. vs. Rock 'n' Roll Express

- I am loving the hell out of this match. One clothesline almost decapitates Gibson. The offense is also much more interesting than what i am used to seeing from the Bruise Bros. A nice backdrop driver gives Dream the pin over Morton. Man, if this one had a little more meat on it and went another 5 minutes this would be a slam dunk.

Bobby Eaton vs. Buddy Landel (Louisville Gardens?)

- This was criminally short as I could watch these two go all day.

Dennis Condrey vs. Dutch Mantell (12/19/83?)

- This was odd. A really slow first few minutes that makes you think they are going long. You blink and they go into overdrive to finish the match. I think these Memphis guys are required to give and sell the clotheslines. These are some of the best cloteslines I have ever seen.

Jerry Lawler vs. Bill Dundee (Louisville Gardens Fall '83)

- I am going with Bix here over Kris. There are too many awesome matchups between the two so when I see this match, it stands out as a disappointment, not only because of the ending but because they never really got warmed up. No vote.

Bobby Eaton & Sweet Brown Sugar vs Bill Dundee & Bobby Fulton (8/2/82)

- Bix and Kris have said most of what needs to be said. This is a nomination.

Taylor & Rougeau vs. Boyd & Williams (11/15/82 Coal Miner’s Glove) (IF NOMINATED, USE THIS VERSION)

- I must be in a really good mood today because I thought this was fun as hell. When Jacque came in, he hits a dropkick and immediately goes for the pole. Even when Jacques flubbed the rope jump, his mistake cost him as Butch knocked him to the floor and Butch was able to climb the pole. I mark for Jonathan Boyd so when I see him in there instead of Butch, I feel much better. Later on, Terry Taylor's decision to stop Boyd from climibing the pole instead of tagging his partner cost him. I agree that the ending sucked but the chase to the top of the pole was great. Nomination.

Fabulous Ones vs New York Dolls (11/15/82)

- Christ, those costumes are cheesy as hell. Another awesome clothesline in this one. THe Dolls give Lane a double clothesline that rips his head off. I had fun watching this but this was sloppy as hell. This is like the ECW version of a Fabs match.

Fabulous Ones vs. Bobby Eaton/Dream Machine (11/22/82)

- Decent match. Jimmy Hart screws up and accidentally hits his own guy from the top rope.

Terry Taylor Country Music Video

Jerry Lawler & Bill Dundee vs Jonathan Boyd & Luke Williams (11/22/82)

- Once again, we get another tag match that does not develop fully. THis is even more disappointing because it is a matchup I really wanted to see.

Bill Dundee/Jerry Calhoun vs Adrian Street/Jim Cornette/Miss Linda (1/2/83)

Bill Dundee/Jerry Calhoun vs Adrian Street/Jim Cornette/Miss Linda (1/10/83)

- I still think the 1 on 3 match was better than all of these. However, I could see adding them on to an Adrian Street comp if it was ever made.

Bobby Eaton vs Bill Dundee (2/14/83)

- Damn, Dundee's backhanded strikes to Eaton's face looked pretty stiff. The story here is that Dundee is in control except that Hart and Eaton work together to use hidden objects to gain control whenevr the ref isn't looking. As Kris said, the finish sucked. However, I would like to compare this to the other Eaton-Dundee match that was nominated. Mild recommendation.

Bobby Eaton vs Sweet Brown Sugar (2/14/83)

- JIP and not much shown.
