Posted December 27, 200717 yr comment_5425925 Steel Cage Match – SR: Fritz Von Erich: Bruiser Brody vs. Abdullah the Butcher (10/12/86) These two have been having wild bloodbaths all over Texas and now its time for the big cage match at the Cotton Bowl with Fritz as the enforcer. Abby wearing an executioner mask is awesome. This was what you would expect from these two in a violent bloody brawl with the cage being a weapon like it should be. Both men throw some bombs here as the blood pours out then Abby gets a fork from Gary Hart and starts using it but Fritz takes it from him then starts nailing Abby. Fritz pulls Brody on top of Abby and counts the pinfall. Hart & Fritz get into it after the match and Fritz beats on both Hart & Abby with the referees pulling him off. This had some great violent action and blood but the focus of the match was more on Fritz than Brody really and that detracted a little from the match for me. I’m still throwing this on the block though.
August 12, 200817 yr comment_5433920 This is also on Romdam WCCW #2 Again I just love the black hood over Abby. I thought this was pretty mediocre. The match seemed more designed to get Fritz V.E over as opposed to the wrestlers. I feel the cage limited on what the wrestlers could do. Fritz's comeback on Abby could be an extra on why the promotion ended up in the shitter.
May 31, 201015 yr comment_5451449 I liked this a bit more than shoe and Kris did. The cage kept them from brawling outside the ring, but I thought Abby's in-ring straight brawling looked really good. Also, after watching the Mid-South set, I can get down with the tough old retired wrestler still being something of a threat, and I thought Fritz didn't try to steal the spotlight too much until the end of the match. Still, that finish was pretty egregious case of Fritz putting himself over the actual wrestlers in the match, and Brody wasn't very exciting here, so I would agree that this isn't a nomination. [Romdam 2] (Note: In his Romdam 2 write-up, Kris seemed to change his mind about this match, and said it should be an extra rather than a full-fledged nomination.)
