Posted January 7, 200817 yr comment_5426514 This was some sort of weird All-South showcase match, it seems, as Rich was a regular there and I guess Rex stopped over in between his WWF and Mid-South stints, plus Lance Russell is joined on commentary by Freddie Miller, Ann Gunkel, & Lou Thesz. The crowd is pretty pumped for Rich's return after being gone for 6 months, and they have an unspectacular, but very fun match that Rich wins with the Thesz Press right in front of Lou. Another match I enjoyed enough to throw on the block as a low-end nomination for now.
March 7, 200817 yr comment_5429081 While the Lanny Poffo match had cooler MOVEZ, I think this one actually had the more fleshed out story especially when Rex took over after Tommy injured his thorat on the ropes. In Mid South, I would have criticized the chinlock Randy Colley but here it actually makes sense so I am not annoyed. Bix already mentioned the Thezs Press ending but I wished they would have had a longer end stretch. Still, this won't rank very high but is more than worthy of nomination.
May 26, 200817 yr comment_5431632 Does anyone have the Lou Thez booked Kuwait promotion he talks about here? I liked this, Rich is a great babyface, and I loved the double miss and punch exchanges. Thez press in front of Thez is a cool finish. I am going yes on this
July 28, 200817 yr comment_5433311 Tommy “Wildfire” Rich vs. Moondog Rex (4/22/85) Lance is calling the match with Lou Thesz, Freddie Miller, & Ann Gunkel. Rex is pretty cleaned up for a Moondog gimmick here and he was getting ready to go to Watts to be The Nightmare. This was a good match with Rich looking very sharp here and Rex being a solid opponent. Rich using the Thesz Press with Lou there to announce it was a great touch. I think this goes forward.
