Posted January 8, 200818 yr comment_5426580 No matches of note on either show, the first show from 85 has Lawler reminising about his career, and all the squash matches had black jobbers except the Koko match which had white jobbers. The 83 show is built around Lawler and Dundee at the desk setting up the first Loser Leaves town match and is an amazing bit of TV as it is like a Boxing weigh in, with both guys talking shit and flaring up, with lots of great music videos. Certainly large parts of this should be extras setting up the 83' match.
May 22, 200817 yr comment_5431448 Lance announces that Stan Lane will be the DJ for the show today and is spinning the tunes starting with Jump by Van Halen for the Rock n Roll Express. Tom Prichard makes his return to Memphis but this time he is a heel and says the Fabs have diseases. (9/28/85) Tom Prichard vs. Jerry Garmon (9/28/85) Squash. DJ Stan Lane shows the Jimmy Valiant video to Life’s Been Good by Joe Walsh and Badstreet USA for the Freebirds then Born in the USA for the Fabs. Masked Superstar (Jerry Stubbs) comes out complaining about Bill Dundee using the Superstar name. Masked Superstar (Jerry Stubbs) vs. Benny Trailer (9/28/85) A longer run by Stubbs in Memphis would’ve been awesome. DJ Stan then spins All My Rowdy Friends for Dundee Jerry “The King” Lawler vs. Lou Winston (9/28/85) Big Lou is jobbing here with a jericurl. After the match they show a video from the Jerry Lawler Show in 1983 where Lawler & Lance go over Jerry’s career. Lance pushes this as recent footage and I’ve already said that this was extra material. Then the My Way & Bad News videos and a new interview with Lawler who talks about his career. This is also definite extra material. The Mongolian Stomper vs. David Johnson (9/28/85) Booker Tom Renesto is in his corner as he was the heel booker here. DJ Stan then spins The Bird for Koko Ware. Koko Ware vs. The Spoiler (Frank Morrell) (9/28/85) Koko had this won but Prichard would run in for the DQ until Lawler made the save. The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) vs. Donald Donovan & Lou Winston (6/4/83) Squash. They show highlights of Dundee/Lawler from MSC on 5/31/83. This looked great. Dundee & Lawler then have a contract signing for the LLT match and this is all a definite extra. “Superstar” Bill Dundee vs. Ken Raper (6/4/83) Squash. Then there is more buildup for Dundee/Lawler with videos and promos from Ken Patera, Jimmy Hart, Tom Prichard, Jimmy Valiant, and even Freddie Miller from TBS studios. Jerry “The King” Lawler vs. Jim Jameson (6/4/83) Squash. Then there is more buildup and they did an awesome job of making this seem like the biggest event ever.
