Posted January 8, 200818 yr comment_5426583 Memphis arena footage 5/7/83 These all can't be from one show, but that is what is listed on the tape Jerry Lawler v. Bobby Eaton We only get about 7 minutes of a 12 minutes match, a fun bump by Lawler, but all of the context is clipped up and it almost feels like watching an ECW highlight film. Not good enough with the clips Bobby Eaton + Dream Machine v. Fabulous Ones Started pretty fun with Eaton taking a huge backdrop, but the finish felt really abrupt with Keirn not really selling during his face in peril section. Also only went about 8 minutes and never got a chance to develop Sweet Brown Sugar + Jimmy Hart v. Jesse Barr + Jim Cornette I really dug the Sugar v. Barr stuff, as it was worked kind of striker v. wrestler, with Barr dominating on takedowns and Koko being able to land some big shots. Of course it is always fun to watch the sneaky little manager getting in cheap shots and getting his comeuppance. We miss Barr's German suplex unfortunately , and we did get a little shorted on the Cornette v. Hart stuff which the match was based around delivering. Still low end nomination Stagger Lee v. Bobby Eaton Okay this is what you want to see. These are your two young super athletic guys taking huge bumps and throwing great punches. Given plenty of time, we get all of it and it is as good as your are hoping it is going to be. Eaton is fucking nuts. Fabulous Ones v. Moondogs This was an early match in the feud clearly, as it hadn't broken down yet to a crazy brawl. Moondogs had some fun high end offense including a great jumping knee by Spike. Not the longest match, but fun stuff and a low end nomination Bill Dundee v. Terry Taylor This was pretty awesome, Dundee is newly turned heel here and spends alot of time doing really great Fuerza shtick avoiding Taylor and then cheap shotting him. Man alive does Dundee have some nice cheap shots. Kind of a cheap ending as Taylor gets his foot caught and Dundee kicks away at him and gets DQed.
January 8, 200818 yr comment_5426624 As far as the date, the tape I borrowed from Dan to convert had it listed as "Memphis Arena TV 5/7/83." Since it's over an hour, that can't be the right airdate (at least for part) but since there's no definitive end of a first episode and beginning of a second (plus it has the local Jackson, TN promos so it wasn't a raw footage tape), I just titled it the same way Dan had it. For future reference, Arena TVs tend to be from the MSC show just under 2 weeks earlier, but that doesn't seem to fit right for this DVD. When I re-watch, I'll compare the finishes, titles, etc. to results from the period and see what I can figure out. The Cornette tag isn't in Jason Campbell's MSC results and the MarksFiles site is all scans, no text results so that will take some time to find the date for unless Kris has the results not on Campbell's site typed up in his archive.
January 8, 200818 yr Author comment_5426631 This also clealry covers some time, as Koko is a heel as Sweet Brown Sugar at the beginning and a face as Stagger Lee at the end

January 9, 200818 yr comment_5426702 As I look around more, this may be a lesser VQ partial dupe of the 1st disc of Lynch Memphis #10/Arena Matches '83 which I didn't have yet back when I converted the tape.
January 9, 200818 yr comment_5426705 OK, I imagine there will be lots of repeated discs and matches popping up on these discs.
April 25, 200817 yr comment_5430893 International Heavyweight Title: Jerry “The King” Lawler © vs. “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton (3/28/83) This is clipped up from the MSC and this was fun too bad we don’t have the full version. Next up is the Fabs vs. Dream/Eaton match I’ve seen already. Jesse Barr & Jim Cornette vs. Sweet Brown Sugar & Jimmy Hart (11/29/82) I thought this was okay for what it was with Barr/Sugar having some good exchanges but I agree that the Hart/Cornette stuff wasn’t enough for what this type of match should have. We also totally miss the finish so I don’t think this goes forward. Then we get the Stagger Lee/Eaton, Fabs/Moondogs, Dundee/Taylor matches which has already been nominated and watched.
