Man this period of CWA was a total blast, this is all about the Stud Stable running wild, only two non squash matches, but lots of extras potential, including a summary of the Brickhouse Brown break with the Stud Stable where they show them giving him Watermelon and a shoe shining kit, and whipping him "like you wanted to say my name was Toby" Some edgy shit and a definite extra.

 

Bill Dundee v. Phil Hickerson

 

This was only about 4 minutes, but a pretty good four minutes, including some nasty shots by Hickerson and a post match debut from young James Dundee in his church clothes.

 

Bill Dundee + Jeff Jarrett v. Gary Young + Cactus Jack

 

This is a really fun tag with some super early Cactus Jack. He takes one stupid over the top rope bump, and Dundee kicks him hard in the mouth when he blows a spot. Fun back and forth tag stuff with Dundee looking great as always, and then a crazy Stud Stable post match with Fuller stomping Jamie Dundee. Fun stuff, and I am throwing it on the block, we should probably also include the post match intereview and brawl.

The Stud Stable come out in full with Fuller in a wheel chair and bring out their new recruits Cactus Jack & The Rock n Roll RPM’s.

CWA Heavyweight Title: Phil Hickerson © vs. “Superstar” Bill Dundee (8/20/88)

 

I loved this as Dundee was great with his punching and finger stomping then you had Hickerson who was chicken shitting it up before laying in his own shots which were great. Fuller & Bruno would also get their shots in and after this happens Calhoun gets knocked down so Hickerson just stomps on his head. The Stable would come out trying to jump Dundee but he would get rid of them and get an O’Connor Roll on Hickerson before Fuller loaded up his boot and KOed Dundee for the DQ. The Stable would bloody Dundee until Brick & Jarrett cleaned house along with Jamie. Great stuff.

 

Fuller & Golden would come out and he gloated about his healing and other things.

 

Next we get a feud recap of Lawler & Tommy Rich.

 

Then we get a recap of Brickhouse getting fired from the Stud Stable. Extra material.

 

Dundee & Jarrett come out and cut a promo on the Stable with Dundee being fucking awesome.

 

Cactus Jack, Jimmy Golden, & Gary Young vs. Shawn Baxter, Ray Odyssey, & Scott Steiner (8/20/88)

 

Not long before this turns into a 6-way brawl with the Stable getting the win.

 

Then we get highlights of Lawler/Rich from MSC on 8/22/88.

“Superstar” Bill Dundee & Jeff Jarrett vs. Cactus Jack & Gary Young (8/27/88)

 

Cactus is great here bumping all over the place including his Nicho bump over the corner to the floor. Dundee just whips Cactus’ ass before tagging in Jarrett who quickly became the FIP taking a pounding from the Stable but not a long one before tagging in Dundee setting off a 4-way brawl. Sylvia would trip up Jarrett causing him to chase here then Dundee would hit a 180 splash from the middle rope on Young before Bruno would run in for the DQ. Fuller would come out with his loaded boot and KOed Jamie as he was trying to save his dad. I liked this a lot but I don’t know about a nomination because for some reason it didn’t really flow right for me and it may be because Jarrett’s FIP section lasted all of 30 seconds. Borderline for me.

 

Brick comes out cutting a promo on Hickerson then we get a video of him dancing around and beating on the Stable.
