Posted January 8, 200817 yr comment_5426643 This was a fun brawl with Hickerson just killing Billy Joe like he was JC Ice's crack, including a nasty sort of DDT on a table. Travis bleeds a bunch but gets a comeback until he is felled by a chain. This feels borderline, but I am throwing it on. CWA 7/4/87 (Arena)
January 12, 200817 yr comment_5426958 Yeah. Travis calls himself a Hickerson protege which offends Hickerson so you get Hickerson as Hiro Saito/Fuchi destorying a rookie with rookie making fired up comebacks and evenutally Saito has to resort to cheating to win.
March 8, 200817 yr comment_5429170 Inside the ring, this was so-so. Outside the ring was fun as hell. The table spot Phil referred to was like an X-Factor where you push the head down but Fat Hickerson doesn't do a seat drop but just jumps off the table. The shots he gives Travis when he was laid across the rail felt like they could crack a rib. The comeback was a little short for my liking. There wasn't a point in the comeback where you thought Travis was going to win. I can see this as a borderline match but will have no problem leaving it off.
March 8, 200817 yr Author comment_5429173 I try Will, distilling hours and hours of Freezer Thompson and Keith Roberson matches into a couple of things that stand out, and in you come shooting down all of my discoveries. I am sorry if we don't all have the Dutch Mantell/Lawler barbed wire matches, sometimes we must make do with one nice Phil Hickerson table spot. If you shoot down my Stud Stable v. Jed Grundy/Scott Steiner tag WE GO TO WAR!!
March 8, 200817 yr comment_5429174 I was about to pop that tag in also! If you sent that Manny-Morton match, you would have 30+ discs of goodies on the way Priority As for this match, I think the outside fighting was great. I forgot to mention when Travis was on the ground and Hickerson was using the rail to squish him and rattle him up some more.
May 4, 200817 yr comment_5431045 Phil Hickerson vs. Billy Travis (6/22/87) Hickerson just beats the fuck out of Travis here including a modified DDT on the ringside table that busted Travis open. Hickerson leaves Travis for dead on the floor after pounding on him like a rented mule. Travis would fight back and brought the battle back to the ring where he would beat on the now bloody Hickerson. Travis starts firing punches but Calhoun pulls him away so Hickerson can break out the chain to nail Travis and get the win. I have no problem with this one going forward as it was bloody and Hickerson was great here.
