Posted January 10, 200817 yr comment_5426801 Memphis #2 (7/81 – 12/81) Disc 1 Buddy Wayne vs. Jerry Lawler (attacked by Dream Machine & First Family) - No match. Lawler was strettchered out and attacked again. May be used as an EXTRA as part of the Lawler-Hart feud. Dream Machine Interview Onita & Fuchi vs. Dundee & Roy Rodgers - Really sloppy and disjointed but I dig Dundee coming in and leaping before smashing one of the heels in the back of the head when saving Rodgers. All hell breaks loose in the end and Steve Keirn and Dutch Mantel make the save. First Family Interview (Lawler tars and feathers Jimmy Hart) - Definite EXTRA! Part of Lawler-Hart feud. Dundee & Lawler vs. Onita & Fuchi* Starts off pretty nifty as Dundee whips Fuchi into the turnbuckle but Onita leaps up and softens the blow. Fuchi then does the Dundee strut! Awesome. I really like Fuchi and Onita as bumbling stooging heels in peril than when they were on offense. Another great spot as Onita gives Fuchi several arm ringers unaware that he is attacking his own partner. This had some really solid tag wrestling until the end when the First Family attacks Lawler and after the ref was trying to maintain order outside, Dundee ends up getting pinned and loses the match. Great post match brawl and I'll throw this up for nomination as a pretty good TV studio match. Jimmy Valiant Music Video ("Boy From New York City") - That's how I like my Valiant viewing... in condensed music video form. Jerry Lawler vs. The Nightmare* - Real short match with the First Family interfering but Dream MAchine gets tarred and feathered.... another Hart vs. Lawler EXTRA! Dundee & Keirn vs. Donovan & Nightmare (Arena) (JIP) Dutch Mantel vs. Tojo Yamamoto (Arena) (JIP) - The 1st clip was ok. The 2nd was more exciting but nothing that would make a set unless it was a Maybe Extra. Onita & Fuchi vs. Rick & Robert Gibson* - OK match that was hurt by a bad ending as Tojo botched a Kendo Stick hit and it took him forever to get the damn stick through the ropes as you could see the ref staring just waiting for him to call the DQ. After a post-match brawl, it is Dutch Mantel who ends up getting stretchered out this time around. Jimmy Hart Interview (Interrupted by Steve Keirn) Keirn-Hart Trust Segment - Awesome segment where Keirn tries to break Hart's leg. EXTRA Onita & Fuchi vs. Eddie Gilbert & Ricky Morton (Arena) (clip) Eddie Gilbert & Ricky Morton Interview (Interrupted by Yamamoto) Onita & Fuchi vs. Keirn & Mantel (clip) Onita & Fuchi vs. Eddie Gilbert & Ricky Morton (Concession Brawl) (Match not shown)* - I know the concession stand brawl will be on the set so we'll add it on but the entire feud recap has to be included either as a prelude or on an EXTRAS disc. Jerry Lawler vs. Dream Machine (Arena) (clip) First Family Interview - Great interview with Jimmy Hart as the King. EXTRA with clips from Hart vs. Lawler Music Video (“Great Balls of Fire”) Dream Machine Music Video (“Alley Oop”) - I'll probably have to do a Music Videos Extra segment as well. Dream Machine attacks Lance Russell Dream Machine Interview - Damn, has anyone ever actually attacked Russell before? EXTRA The Southern Belt is retired “My Way” Video - EXTRA Dutch Mantel vs. Tojo Yamamoto - No real match before Fuchi and Onita attack. - Jimmy Valiant vs. Chick Donovan - NO

Jimmy Valiant Music Video ("Boy From New York City") - That's how I like my Valiant viewing... in condensed music video form. This is one of the more memorable videos, should be an extras. Jimmy Hart Interview (Interrupted by Steve Keirn) Keirn-Hart Trust Segment - Awesome segment where Keirn tries to break Hart's leg. EXTRA Even without the leg-breaking, this is great just for the bonding over their mutual hatred of those damn Orientals. Defnite extra. Dream Machine Music Video (“Alley Oop”) - I'll probably have to do a Music Videos Extra segment as well. Dream Machine attacks Lance Russell Dream Machine Interview - Damn, has anyone ever actually attacked Russell before? EXTRA This whole segment is absolutely tremendous, easy extra.
February 24, 200817 yr comment_5428558 Jerry “The King” Lawler vs. Buddy Wayne (7/25/81) This doesn’t last long as the First Family attacks Lawler then Dream Machine turns heel and joins them setting off a big brawl with Keirn, Dundee, & Mantell. This was part of some of the best consecutive weeks of TV I’ve ever seen. “Superstar” Bill Dundee & Roy Rogers vs. Masa Fuchi & Atsushi Onita (7/25/81) Fuchi & Onita have lost their hair and Dundee is subbing for Dream Machine working in blue jeans. This is just a flat out brawl that sees Tojo run in for the DQ using the kendo stick but Keirn & Mantell would make the save. Fun stuff. The First Family comes out for a promo but Lawler leads out the babyface troops and the war is on as Lawler tars and feathers Jimmy Hart. This was phenomenal and a surefire extra. (8/1/81) Southern Tag Titles: “Superstar” Bill Dundee & Jerry “The King” Lawler © vs. Masa Fuchi & Atsushi Onita (8/1/81) They clean up the feathers from earlier on the floor as Dundee & Lawler laugh. Lawler throws some great rapid punches here on both Japanese who are really good here as stooges like GH said. Dundee & Lawler were damn sharp here as a team and so was Fuchi & Onita except for the arm wringer mistake on the apron. Jimmy Hart comes back out leading to another brawl on the floor but Dundee is in the ring getting pinned by Onita and the Japanese win the titles. The brawl continues on the floor making this even more awesome. This is a fairly easy nomination. Next we get a Jimmy Valiant video. CWA TV Title Tournament: Jerry “The King” Lawler vs. Nightmare #1 (Danny Davis) (8/8/81) Good back and forth match with Lawler looking great and Nightmare getting some offense in. Lawler gets the win with an inside cradle but the First Family hits the ring right after the count and they try to tar and feather Lawler but the tables turn on the Family and Dream Machine gets it. Dream then cuts an insane promo afterwards. This is a definite extra. They show highlights of Dundee/Keirn vs. Nightmares from MSC on 8/3/81. Then we get highlights of Dutch/Tojo in a kendo stick on a pole match from MSC on 8/10/81. Ricky & Robert Gibson vs. Masa Fuchi & Atsushi Onita (8/15/81) Good teamwork on both sides here as these four worked really well together. Fuchi & Onita may have been the best Japanese team that worked a Southern style because they really had a lot of the same tendencies your great Southern heel teams had. Gibson has Fuchi pinned with a sunset flip but Tojo whacks him with the kendo stick for the DQ. Dutch comes out to make the save but gets handcuffed to the bottom rope and gets his ass kicked. This is extra material. Jimmy Hart comes out and wants Steve Keirn to join the First Family so Keirn comes out and says that there must be trust between them so he tells Hart to put his injured leg on the bottom rope and he could either come off the top rope to injure it worse or come down off the top rope to do business. You can guess what happens next and this is a slam dunk extra. (8/15/81) They show a chronology of the Gilbert/Morton vs. Fuchi/Onita feud culminating in the Tupelo Concession Stand Brawl from 9/11/81 and this whole thing is a definite for the set. All four men were in severe pain especially Fuchi as his ear was seriously injured. Tojo attacks the concession stand owner and his wife even. Lawler loses he leaves town and Hart returns, Dream loses the entire First Family leaves: Jerry “The King” Lawler vs. Dream Machine (9/7/81) Koko Ware is the special referee for this match and Chick Donovan is the acting manager. Chick gets involved but gets taken care of but Dream uses a chain to take out Lawler and a fast count by Koko gets the win. The First Family then comes out for a live interview where the new King of Wrestling comes out in Jimmy Hart and the introduction of Sweet Brown Sugar. The Family then eats some of Stan Frazier’s chicken. This whole thing is a slam dunk extra. (9/12/81) Next we get a Jimmy Hart video to Great Balls of Fire. Then we get the Dream Machine video set to Alley Oop that is a definite extra due to the attack on Lance Russell then the promo afterwards for Evansville has to be included. (8/22/81) They retire the old Southern Heavyweight Title belt and give it to Lawler along with a video set to My Way by Elvis. Definite extra. (8/22/81) CWA TV Title Tournament: “Dirty” Dutch Mantell vs. Tojo Yamamoto (8/22/81) It’s supposed to be Dutch vs. Fuchi but Tojo takes his spot and of course Fuchi & Onita show up to attack Dutch. Dundee joins in for a fun brawl. “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant vs. “Golden Boy” Chick Donovan (9/26/81) Valiant wrestles in his street clothes. Dream Machine would run in for the DQ but Dundee & Ricky Gibson made the save.
