January 11, 200817 yr Author comment_5426848 Gilbert-Lawler was the one from Friedlander that looked like it was recorded using a bad UHF antenna (even though it was on cable, so whoever taped it probably had a loose connection or a terrible cable company). I also rewatched that match this evening and it didn't impress me nearly as much as it did the first time that I watched it. This is from Tim Noel and isn't EX but it's a pretty solid VG.
February 16, 200817 yr comment_5428170 “Superstar” Bill Dundee vs. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert (5/9/88) There are some great punches thrown here as Dundee unloads and Gilbert bumps his ass off. Gilbert would get the advantage and started throwing shots himself. This has a lot of hate due to Gilbert running Dundee out of the area but Bill comes back for revenge and gets his pound of flesh. They brawl from the ring to the floor and Gilbert backdrops Dundee from the apron to the ring as Jerry Calhoun is counting but doesn’t make it in the ring and gets counted out. Shitty finish but this was great fun and yes Danny Wolf was horrid.
February 18, 200817 yr comment_5428232 This is hot and heavy at the beginning. I loved how Dundee chased Missy around the ring, and how he cut through the ring to try to cut her off. The punches were great. Gilbert's selling was great. The wobbling leg selling was tremendous. The match was a little short, and the finish blew. Though the action was tremendous. Plus the beatdown at the end was well done. For the amount of time the guys got they told a great story in the ring.
July 29, 200817 yr comment_5433346 Man, that ending blew. This was nominated and discussed back in Jan. and Feb. I am thinking that at this point, there are too many Dundee matches that smoke this. Another match I enjoyed but I don't endorse the nomination. Too much stuff out there that is better. No vote.
July 30, 200817 yr comment_5433401 The brawling was really great, and I loved all of Gilberts bumping for the punches, but I am with Will here shortsh and a shitty finish says no to me. I really wish we had more Eddie Gilbert on this set though
