Posted January 11, 200817 yr comment_5426876 This was a face v. face dream match and started out very cool with a feeling out process, and then Robert Gibson taking a huge ringpost Psicosis bump into the turnbuckle and out to the floor. Lane and Keirn go to work on the arm with some cool stuff, you get your tempers flaring, and then the Interns run in and attack both teams. Really good until the god awful finish, although not a ton of heat because of the face v. face aspect. I am torn on this, but I will nominate it. Memphis 3/3/85
January 14, 200817 yr comment_5427046 I'm gopoing to say no. This is a great Robert Gibson display. I mean holy shit does Gibson look like a great wrestler here. I don't think I've ever seen him look this blow away good. I think he's a guy who had a reputation for coming back from injuries too early or something..but man he looks amazing in this match. Phil feels like their is a lack of heat and I don't really buy that as a problem since it seemed to have fair amount of heat for a face v face matchup. the no finish is my real problem with this match. But other people should weigh in.
March 7, 200817 yr comment_5429083 I think we have seen matches with worse finishes get pushed through. I think the fact that the finish pissed us off so much is a testament to how much I was into the match. Very similar to Jake-Slater and those bad finishes where I was so invested in the matches, the bad finishes stung more than if it was a mediocre match. In fact, I would love to see this match get put through since we were robbed of a complete match from the Mid South set.
May 1, 200817 yr comment_5430992 Southern Tag Titles: The Fabulous Ones (Steve Keirn & Stan Lane) © vs. The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) (3/4/85) This could be the first ever matchup and quite the match to book for the Memphis fans who love both teams. What I love about this match is that they don’t do the scientific match bullshit where they constantly shake hands and when one goes to the floor they help them back in the ring, they just come out there and started working like they would against any heel team. There is the spot though where Gibson just nukes his shoulder into the ringpost and Keirn slacks on him but it isn’t long though before the Fabs just go to work on the shoulder. It would soon break down with the teams going at it before the Interns show up leading to a no contest finish. Sure the finish sucked but I really liked the action here plus what went on afterwards. I’ll cosign Phil’s nom.
