Posted January 11, 200817 yr comment_5426899 Disc 2 Lawler vs. Dundee - This is my working #1 and just an 80s masterpiece. I loved the beautiful Dundee bulldog, the bulldog counter. I love how the crowd works itself up at the end as these guys were just building and building the match. Reminds me of the Flair-Steamboat 1984 Meadowlands match. Jimmy Hart & Moondogs Interview Porkchop Cash & Dream Machine vs. Dutch Mantell & Stagger Lee - Pretty decent tag but nothing that really stands out except for the Bruise winning with the use of a chain. RNR Express vs. Grapplers (Texas Death Match) - Not a very impressive showing from the RNR here. The crowd seemed deflated for some reason and the TX Death stip wasn't really played up to. Hell, the clips from the 1986 TX Death match are better than this. Jimmy Hart Interview/ Fabulous Ones vs. Moondogs - Keirn caught in the ropes/ Fabulous Ones Interview/ Stan Lane & Jackie Fargo vs. The Moondogs - This should all be an EXTRA Promos: Jerry Lawler/Fabulous Ones/ Grapplers, Moondogs & Hart RNR Express & Bobby Eaton vs. Moondogs & Jimmy Hart - Jimmy Hart runs away leaving the Moondogs to go 2 on 3. YOu gotta love Jimmy Hart wearing Jeans with frayed ends toshow his unity with the Moondogs. I thought this was better than Kris gave it credit for. The faces took some big bumps, the Moondogs remained surprisingly active and Jimmy Hart stayed out of the way except when it mattered. At first I couldn't believe Eaton had sold a Jimmy Hart punch but Hart had a chain wrapped around his fist. Hart gets disqualified after Hart gets a running kick to the nuts on Eaton. Anti-climactic ending but I want to discuss this some more. Nomination. Jerry Lawler & Austin Idol Interview Jerry Lawler vs. Ken Patera - JIP. We miss half the match so no go. Tommy Rogers vs. Adrian Street - I am interested if we have a more complete version. I am leaning towards a no here. I think the Rogers matches with Koko and Dundee are so much better. Compared to those, this doesn't really deserve to be on the set. Promos: Grapplers & Jimmy Hart; David Schultz? Moondogs vs. Bobby Eaton & Terry Taylor - Terry Taylor took an ass beating here. I think it bothers me watching Bobby Eaton as a face when he should be a heel. I liked the Moonodgs Six man better and the Fabs-Dogs series better. No vote. Jerry Lawler Interview Jerry Lawler, Austin Idol & Jimmy Valiant vs. Ken Patera & The Assassins - This felt like the beginning and the end of a match. The beginning started off hot as Valiant had the crowd going nuts. Then about two minutes in, it went to the home stretch of spots that Kris talked about. I am going to have to vote no because there wasn't any meat to the match. It was fun but half of the match was missing according to the announcement.
February 29, 200817 yr comment_5428827 This starts off with the Lawler/Dundee LLT from 6/6/83 that I’ve already posted about. “Dirty” Dutch Mantell & Stagger Lee vs. The Bruise Brothers (Dream Machine & Porkchop Cash) (6/20/83) I loved the Stagger/Dream showdown of shaking their asses and shouting to the crowd. Chops working in blue jeans 20 years ahead of his time is great. This was a really good match with all four men working hard and Stagger taking some great bumps. Dutch got the hot tag and hit a cross body block on Dream but Chops came from behind and bashed him with a chain causing Dream to pin him to win the match. They find the chain and convince Paul Morton that he was hit with a chain and the finish was changed to a DQ. The faces got their ass kicked for their trouble. I’m on the fence as far as nomination so a definite maybe. Texas Death: The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) vs. The Grapplers (Tony Anthony & Len Denton) (6/20/83) RnR won two quick falls before the Grapplers started up the attack on Morton. Grapplers would even the falls as they just punish Morton relentlessly in and out of the ring. Morton starts going for the loaded boot as he was trying to fight his way to Gibson but would get his head slammed into a steel chair for his trouble to lose another fall. Gibson gets tired of this so he pulls out a chain and decks a Grappler with Morton falling on him to even the odds back at 3. Paul Morton would count both men and Morton made it up before the 10 count and the RnR won the match. This was good enough to go on as a low-end nomination. They show highlights of the Fabs/Moondogs feud. “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton & The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) vs. The Moondogs & Jimmy Hart (7/25/83) So odd seeing Eaton Teaming with the RnR Express. This was a fun little match with Morton once again taking a beating and Hart doing his best to avoid being in the ring while dressed in his Moondog attire. Eaton would get the hot tag and cleaned house but would go over the top rope to the floor as Spotty held the rope down then Hart would stomp on Eaton on the floor. Eaton would take a beating and Hart even got tagged in to take his shots. Eaton would take Hart down though and pinned him to win the match but continued to get beat on afterwards. Fun match but not enough for a nomination. International Heavyweight Title: Ken Patera © vs. Jerry “The King” Lawler (7/25/83) JIP from MSC and this was pretty good with a cute finish as Lawler snookered Patera with an inside cradle to win the title. Patera attacked everyone after the match as he bloodied both Lawler & Jerry Calhoun. This is another one I’m on the fence on mainly due to it being JIP. US Jr. Heavyweight Title: Tommy Rogers © vs. “Exotic” Adrian Street (8/22/83) Street uses his great mat wrestling skills along with some help from Miss Linda to keep the attack on Rogers early in the match. Rogers would regain the advantage using a great dropkick followed with an atomic drop before going to the mat. Rogers got his payback for Linda’s interference earlier as he crashed her head with Adrian’s then spanked her before hitting a flying body press off the top rope to retain his title. Good match but another one I’m on the fence on. The Moondogs (Rex & Spot) vs. “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton & Terry Taylor (8/22/83) This starts out with everyone brawling before it settles down with Eaton taking the punishment from the Dogs although he gets off some great punches. Taylor would tag in and started good but a missed dropkick led to the Dogs regaining the advantage. Taylor would go flying to the floor through the ropes taking an insane bump to the floor then Rex would chunk him over the ringside table leading to Eaton brawling with Spotty. Taylor takes more punishment but would tag Eaton although Paul Morton never saw it so Eaton would pull out a chain and started cleaning house for the DQ. Yet another one I’m on the fence on. The Assassins & Ken Patera vs. “Universal Heartthrob” Austin Idol, Jerry “The King” Lawler, & “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant (8/22/83) Valiant’s reception was nuts as MSC went crazy and this match started out as nothing but a wild brawl with everyone fighting. The heels bump all over the place for everyone even Patera was bouncing around with the fans going bonkers. Valiant chunks chairs in the ring with Idol giving an atomic drop to one of the A-Team on the chair. Valiant uses the security rope to choke an A-Team member then Jerry Calhoun before colliding their heads together. The match is called due to the violence on Calhoun by Valiant but the brawl still goes on after the bell. I loved this and I’m throwing it on the block. Next we get a Bill Dundee video to Bad Reputation and this is great. Definite extra.
