March 1, 20178 yr comment_5790026 World Championship Wrestling 7/11/87Jim Crockett starts the show announcing that JJ Dillon has found a replacement for his spot in the War Games match at the Orange Bowl in Miami on 7/31. Dillon will never wrestle again supposedly. The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) vs. Eric Long & Gary Phelps (7/8/87)Easy win for the RnR but the best part is the fans are rooting for a Double Dropkick so Morton wins with a backslide instead. Hilarious and we get a promo from the RnR afterwards about the Bash tour."Dr. Death" Steve Williams vs. Alan Martin (7/8/87)Doc makes his TBS debut here and destroys Martin before cutting a promo about his match with Bubba that night in OKC for the UWF Title. Ron Simmons then comes out and joins him to give him his love.Bugsy McGraw vs. Dexter Westcott (7/8/87)Bugsy makes his return to TBS after over 3 years and the fans love him as he just plays with this guy before finishing him.The Four Horsemen and associates are out in full talking about War Games and Dillon was in his sling and bandaged up talking about how everyone is scared of the Horsemen because they targeted him. Then we get clips of Dillon getting injured from the Roadies. The Horsemen are pissed and want revenge and Dillon shows a video of the War Machine which was Big Bubba Rogers in the Midnight Rider costume. Hilarious. Flair then cuts a great promo about the Bash tour. Extra material.Barry Windham vs. Clement Fields (7/8/87)Windham has no issues here. The Garvins & Precious are out next with Jimmy talking about his match with Flair that night in Greensboro where if Flair wins he gets a date with Precious. Both Jimmy & Ronnie predict victory. The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry "Bamm Bamm" Gordy, Michael "PS" Hayes, & Buddy Jack Roberts) vs. Cougar Jay, David Isley, & Larry Stephens (7/8/87)The Birds are dominant in this match plus it was fun seeing Buddy get the pinfall with a cross body block on Isley. Birds then cut a promo afterwards and Hayes talks about wanting a shot at the NWA Title as well as beating everyone on the Bash tour.Ron Simmons vs. Tommy Angel (7/8/87)Simmons is still coming along and he mauls Angel.Bugsy is out for a promo next which was all over the place as usual.Dusty is out next for a promo with a comb sticking out of the top of his head wearing a blazer, t-shirt, and red pants saying that it's tailor made for him. This is hilarious. We also get clips of the Horsemen injuring Nikita in War Games. Nikita then shows up and said the Horsemen can't keep him down. Extra material.Cornette is out next on his crutch saying that no one will keep him away. The Midnight Express ("Beautiful" Bobby Eaton & "Sweet" Stan Lane) vs. Mike Jackson & Terry Jones (7/8/87)Standard really fun MX squash here but Lane using a sasorigatame (Scorpion Deathlock) to win here was a nice touch. MX & Cornette then cut a promo on the RnR next.Misty Blue vs. Kat LeRoux (7/8/87)Misty is back on TV and the fans are into her then we get the rare occurance of TV time running out while a match is going on for this show.World Championship Wrestling 7/18/87Ron Simmons vs. The Gladiator (7/15/87)Another dominant showing by Simmons who cut a promo after the match talking about Doc winning the UWF Title and he would support him.The Mod Squad (Basher & Spike) vs. Eric Long & Alan Martin (7/15/87)Like Simmons, another dominant squash showing for the Squad here. Then we get the Dillon/War Machine promo again.Next we get clips of Luger beating Nikita in the cage.Luger & Dillon are out next for a promo with Luger holding the US Title for the first time on TBS and this is good stuff. Extra material. Then we get the promo from Nikita in the dressing room after losing to Luger."Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant vs. Gladiator #2 (7/15/87)Valiant wastes no time here. The Roadies & Ellering are out next for a promo talking about the War Games and their other battles on the Bash tour.Kendall Windham vs. Thunderfoot #2 (7/15/87)Easy win for Kendall.Dusty is out next for a promo talking about they are halfway through the Bash tour and it's taken a toll on everyone. Dusty then talks about Luger coming out wearing a cheap ripoff Polo shirt then talks about how rich and famous he is not those guys. Dusty then starts talking all kinds of shit saying that Ron Simmons is a great black athlete that doesn't have to dye his hair blonde to get on TV. This is a hilarious but great promo. Extra material.Tully & Dillon are out next talking about Luger being the new US Champ and how the Horsemen are ready to take over the world including the NWA World Tag Titles.Todd Champion & Italian Stallion vs. Mike Force & David Isley (7/15/87)Spotlight match for the babyfaces.US Heavyweight Title: "Total Package" Lex Luger © vs. Rocky King (7/15/87)Luger is very arrogant now and puts up his title on TV against Rocky which is interesting. Extra material.NWA Pro Wrestling 7/25/87Lazer-Tron, "Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant, & Kendall Windham vs. The Gladiators & Sean Royal (7/18/87)This is from Memorial Stadium in Charlotte which I loved outdoor wrestling shows. The match is JIP and fine for what it was.Vladimir Petrov vs. Todd Champion (7/18/87)Petrov puts Champion away easily with the Russian Sickle. Then we get a promo with Nikita in the locker room with Caudle talking about his neck and getting his US Title back. Dusty talks about never being the US Champ and now it's time for him to win that. Extra material.Western States Heavyweight Title: Barry Windham © vs. Big Bubba Rogers (7/18/87)Rogers & Akbar riding the bullpen car to the ring was classic. They go to a break before the match started but what we get is really fun as Bubba bumps like a motherfucker and Windham almost hits a tope to Bubba on the floor as he hits Bubba with his elbow. Windham would then hit a cross body block off the top rope for a quick win. Way too damn short and I wish we had a longer match. Windham cut a promo afterwards challenging all comers and said that he wants Luger's US Title now.US Tag Titles: The Midnight Express ("Beautiful" Bobby Eaton & "Sweet" Stan Lane) © vs. Michael "PS" Hayes & Buddy Roberts (7/18/87)MX & Cornette ride on the bullpen car as well with Cornette holding his tennis racquet high in the air which was great. Cornette then says that every woman in the stadium wants to molest the MX. Cornette goes on commentary during the match saying that he is going to fry the Birds like KFC. This is such a fresh matchup that we needed more of during this whole JCP takes over the world thing. We go to a break very early in the match as Eaton is pinballing around for the Birds and come back with Lane getting back in the ring from the grass. MX got frustrated and did their fake breakup deal with the fans going nuts as the Birds were embarrassing them. The Birds looked really strong here as both Hayes & Roberts were getting offense on the MX who were being total chickenshits here. Cornette held Buddy as Lane grabbed the racquet and smashed Buddy to win the match in their only real offense hilarious.....Terry Gordy then runs out and tells Tommy Young what happened and he reversed the decision calling for the DQ. Very fun match but MX not even getting offense was something else.World Championship Wrestling 7/25/87Luger starts the show with the US Title talking about how he is a true champion and now. Garvin would get a schoolboy though and Paul Jones would run immediately for the DQ. Ivan Koloff then ran out and they tried to seriously injure Jimmy until Ronnie Garvin ran them off with a steel chair as Jimmy cried out in pain. Very abrupt finish to this which wasn't good. Ronnie then tells Caudle & Weaver after the match that he is going to have to start hurting people now.World Championship Wrestling 8/1/87The Midnight Express ("Beautiful" Bobby Eaton & "Sweet" Stan Lane) vs. Cougar Jay & George South (7/29/87)This is a damn good squash match and Cornette cuts a fun promo afterwards talking about all the other teams in the territory."Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin vs. Thunderfoot #2 (7/29/87)Easy win for Garvin and he cuts a promo afterwards on Flair saying that he may have hurt his knee but he hasn't broken him yet. Arn comes out and talks shit but he gets in the ring.Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard vs. Keith Patterson & Dexter Westcott (7/29/87)Arn & Tully look like a machine here wasting these guys. Dillon and the boys cut a great promo afterwards about how they have money and don't need fans other than their true fans who are in the crowd with their coat and ties on. Extra material.Dusty is out next for a promo talking about Luger then cuts a promo on the Horsemen fans calling them pretty boys while they hold up 4 fingers which was great. Dusty then tells them "YOU SUCK" which was hilarious. Extra material.Sean Royal vs. Ricky Nelson (7/29/87)Royal is back after recovering from his injuries in the bad car wreck that he had with Chris Champion a month earlier.
