Posted January 17, 200817 yr comment_5427227 Buddy Rose vs. Matt Borne (2/3 falls) (16:37) - I like how these guys came firing out of the gate. BUddy attacked MAtt before he could take off his warm-up tights. No armbars or tie-ups. Just pucnhes and strikes and ramming each other into the turnbuckle. Some great back and forth jostling leads to a SWEET Matt Borne Piledriver to win the first fall. There wasn't much of a first fall but it was action-packed. Second fall starts outside and Rose gets a chair and busts Borne open. Man, Rose was going to town on Borne when we had some VQ issues that prevented us to see what led to a Rose pin. 3rd fall sees Rose trying to ram Borne's head into the ringpost again but Borne blocks and busts Rose open. Borne grabs a chair and starts nailing Rose even though the ref is trying to take the chair from him. This is the 2nd time the ref has allowed a chair to be used even though there was not a No DQ clause. Eventually, all hell breaks loose, after Borne was biting Rose on the head, they go outside and brawl on the floor until the locker spills out to try and contain both men. This wild atmosphere sets up an arena lights out match but it also sets up a lumberjack match for next week's TV so I don't mind the non-finish. Nomination. (Lynch Portland Vol. 7.2)
August 10, 201015 yr comment_5454265 This was just a balls to the wall brawl. The lack of a no DQ stip bothered me because of the chair shots, but I can live with it because this was just a nasty fight and a nomination.
May 4, 201114 yr comment_5470741 This was a wild-ass match, with Buddy setting the tone right away by jumping Borne. I didn't care about the lack of DQ on the chairshots, because it was obviously never intended to be a proper match with a clean finish. They certainly conveyed the hatred and intensity needed to carry off this kind of brawl. Yet another shade of the Buddy Rose experience here and an easy nomination for me.
July 13, 201213 yr comment_5510041 Don Owen's ring introductions are a true treasure. Buddy ambushing Borne before he could get out of his gear was a cool touch and it is crazy how over Borne is as a babyface so quickly after the split. This was a quick fall, but the finishing sequence was one of the most well executed reversal sequences ever and the piledriver was the perfect finish for it. Second fall starts with Buddy almost getting pants and taking a huge atomic drop on the floor only to eat a post shot. Buddy pastes him with a chair busting him open so naturally Buddy goes after the cut. Buddy toys with him again and then wastes him with a chair again for the second fall. Borne comes back right at the jump of the third fall after selling the damage between falls and busts Buddy open as he posts him and drills him with weapons. Borne and Rose get into a hell of a slugfest and the match gets tossed as the dressing room emptied. This was good stuff, though I wold have preferred a more frantic pace. Still an easy pick for the set.
