The whole thing is from a show that seems to be located by a train terminal. The crowd is pretty lukewarm. Keiko Nakano vs. Mika Komatsu Not much to it. Kaoru Matsumoto vs. Yumi Ogura Again, not much of a match. Masked Yu, Devil Masami & Elizabeth Chase vs. Kanako Nagatomo & JB Angels This was a better match but nothing special. Yukari Omori vs. Tarantula They opened with some intensity but the match ended up being pretty sluggish. Princess Victoria vs. Jaguar Yokota Victoria struck me as a real stiff who got by on size and attitude. Jaguar's greatness made this watchable but not a nomination. Crush Girls vs. Mimi Hagiwara & Jumbo Hori (2/3 falls) Hori beating on Chigusa was a great combination. And Lioness had a real nice counter to an attempted slam off the top rope, rolling Hori into a pinning combination for the second fall. But the match ended on a countout that was really poorly captured by the handheld shooter, so no nomination. August 1984 TV: Crush Girls sing 1984 Tag League Intro Jaguar Yokota & Devil Masami vs. Dump Matsumoto & Crane Yu Dump brought the normal weapons violence and Jaguar got so incensed that she posted a ref. She did a nice dropkick off the top against Yu, who was in the electric chair position on Masami's shoulders. Devil eventually snapped and started drilling Dump and Crane with their own weapons. All the chaos was fun so maybe a low-level nomination. Itsuki Yamazaki vs. La Galáctica This was fast-paced with lots of high flying by both. I'm on the fence about a nomination. Probably not. WWWA Tag Team titles: Dynamite Girls vs. Crush Girls (2/3 falls) Chigusa started overeager and out of control as the Crush Girls pursued the belts. She played a great face in peril at various points in this match, with Hori and Omori just destroying her. The finish of the last fall was cool. Asuka had Omori up but Omori gained enough freedom to kick Chigusa off the top rope and then land on Asuka. Asuka kicked out and then Chigusa hit Omori with a nasty German for the big win. Crowd went nuts and Crush Girls broke down. This one is probably a nomination for the spectacle of that moment. The match was pretty good too. Dump Matsumoto & Crane Yu vs. Jaguar Yokota & Itsuki Yamazaki The heels dominated too much of the action in this one. I wanted to like it more than I did given the players involved. Clip of Hori and Omori on a TV show 1984 Handheld: JB Angels vs. Devil Masami & Tarantula (JIP) This might have been good, but too much was clipped. Bull Nakano, Madusa & Delta Dawn vs. Marine Wolves & Mitsuko Nishiwaki This was from television, not the handheld, but it was pretty aimless. January 29, 1989 TV: Crush Girls sing Kickboxing: Yumiko Hotta vs. Meo Thai A bad idea badly executed. WWWA title: Lioness Asuka vs. Chigusa Nagayo They worked a totally different style by this point, focusing on stiffer kicks and more realistic matwork. I guess they were influenced by the shootstyle movement? Anyway, it was compelling to watch the partners beat on each other to such an extent, but they didn't exactly flow in the style. It was more like, "OK, it's my turn to beat the crap out of you. Alright, now it's your turn to beat the crap out of me." Neither seemed to have a real plan of attack. It's probably worth putting on, just so people can see how the big-match style evolved. I mean, you'd probably put Kobashi v. Misawa 6/11/99 on an All-Japan 90's set.
