Posted January 23, 200817 yr comment_5427449 Disc 1 Ferris & Latham vs. Rick & Robert Gibson (Concession Stand Brawl) Bruno Sammartino vs. Waldo Von Erich (WWF) - Matches from the 1970s. I may include the first Concession Stand Brawl as an extra. Dusty Rhodes-Dory Funk Jr. Clips (Florida) Sir Oliver Humperdink Interview Bob Backlund vs. Dusty Rhodes (New Japan 1981) Antonio Inoki vs. Stan Hansen (New Japan 1981) Harley Race vs. Jumbo Tsuruta (All Japan 1980) - I'll watch these in better VQ from the Japan Classics. Ferris & Latham vs. Lawler & Dundee (Concession Stand Brawl) - From 1978 but another possible extra leading up to the Concession Stand Brawl from '81 Jerry Lawler Music Video Dusty Rhodes - The Assassin Confrontation (Florida 1981) (EXTRA) Challenge Cup Highlights 1981 Mad Dog Vachon Interview (1980) Mr. Saito vs. Bob Armstrong (Alabama 1980) - Pretty decent match until a horrible ref bump. This allowed Dennis Condrey to knock Bob out and for Saito to get the win. Disc 2 Jimmy Valiant-Bill Dundee Confrontation (Memphis) - Big Brawl, Tommy Rich helps clear the ring after heels attack Hart. Austin Idol Interview (w/ Lawler match footage) (Memphis) Billy Robinson vs. Tony Charles (Memphis) - We really need more Billy Robinson Lawler-Valiant Video Collage (Memphis) (Possible Extra) Bill Dundee & Tommy Rich vs. David & Jerry Novak (JIP) (Memphis) - This was really fun while it lasted. I don't know how much we missed so I am not going to nominate it. Jerry Lawler -Austin Idol Confrontation (EXTRA) Randy Rose & Dennis Condrey vs. Paul Orndorff & Norvell Austin (Alabama 1980) - Solid tag team work from Rose and Condrey. HOwever, a botched and awkward looking ending knocks off some points. This was ok but nothing I would want to see again. Jimmy Hart - Dream Machine Conversation (Memphis) Blackjack Mulligan - Iron Sheik confrontation (Mid Atlantic) Dream MAchine face turn/ Jimmy Hart Interview (Memphis) Bill DUndee vs. Wayne Ferris & Tojo Yamamoto (Memphis) - This is a wierd match for me because I didn't really care for the wrestling "action" b ut loved the story unfold as Dundee kept trying to figure out how he was going to work against two men. HIs punches on Ferris were pretty sweet. Eventually, the heels were too much for Dundee and Tojo got the pin after throwing something in Dundee's eyes. I'll give this a nomination for more discussion but it isn't something I'll go to town for. Fuchi & Onita Interview w/ Tojo & Jimmy Hart Terry Funk vs. Jerry Lawler (12:58) - I believe this is the one already nominated. I'll check the length of the commercial release as that would be the best VQ if it is in its entirety. Jerry Lawler vs. Gypsy Joe - Not much of a match before Jimmy Hart and the Familyinterferes. Bill Dundee & Tommy Rich vs. Austin Idol & Dutch Mantel (Memphis) - Damn, Dundee and Rich are punching machines. I know people say Lawler had nice punches. Tommy Rich had nice punches. Dundee spent most of the match as FIP leading up to the hot ending. Dundee small packages Dutch for the pin but the ref is outside trying to break apart an outside brawl. Dundee gets his attention as Dutch gets a foreign object. Dutch swings, misses and DUndee gets a roll up for the pin. I'll have to double check on how much time was missed but for what we saw, this is an easy nomination. February 11, 200817 yr comment_5428034 Billy Robinson vs. Tony Charles (Memphis) - We really need more Billy Robinson If you mean more Robinson "overall", someone get PeteF3's Robinson set. I'll have it soon enough, I hope. If you mean "Robinson in Memphis", n/m.
April 7, 200817 yr comment_5430511 Showed footage of the Gibson v. Bomber concession stand brawl, I don't see a need to put this on the set easily the least of these. Bounty Hunters v. Tommy Rich/Bill Dundee 2/15/81 This is JIP but we get 12 minutes of a 17 minute match, lots of stips here. We start with Tommy Rich hitting one second rope fistdrop, but missing a second. Then the Hunters work over Rich's hand and arm with some super nasty looking stuff. I especially love Rich thorwing a punch on instinct with the bad hand. At some point Dundee gets knocked off the apron and takes a big bump. Fun bullshit Mempho ending too. I think we got enough of this to throw on a disc and it ruled. Tojo Yammamoto/Wayne Ferris v. Bill Dundee 2/81 Rich no showed, so Dundee had to go it alone. I loved this, as Dundee is back on his heels counter wrestling, and even Zybysco stalls as a face move. Tojo really lays it in here, including some nasty kidney shots, Dundee is totally awesome, as I love his one legged dropkick variations. Will was on the fence about this, but I think it goes on for sure. Jerry Lawler vs Terry Funk (No DQ), 3/23/81 This was spectacular, bloody and violent. Funk is so much fun bleeding and bumping, and I loved the punch exchanges between two of the great punchers ever. Funk's chairshots to the leg, and Lawler's reciept chairshot were epic too. The version here has some slight clipping, so if we have it complete on the Lawler commercial tape we should use that. Bill Dundee & Tommy Rich vs. Austin Idol & Dutch Mantel 3/12/81 Rupp Arena I don't think we miss any of this, really fun, with everyone looking great, even Idol. Rich takes an insane bump to the floor, and I really hope we can find more Dutch v. Dundee because that is great stuff. Disc for sure
