Gilbert locks in a sleeper but Garvin would work out of it and went back to the advantage although Gilbert would soon regain it. Garvin fires a loud chop to break that up and started working a crossface on the mat before Gilbert worked his way back up. Garvin would get tired in the ropes giving Gilbert a chance to get some shots in as Hart would help a little on the floor also. Gilbert would come off the middle rope with a diving kneedrop but Garvin would rebound and locked in a half crab when Phil Hickerson interfered for the DQ. Lawler and the Battens would run in to make the save. Man another shitty finish but there was enough good stuff in this match to throw it on the block.
February 22, 200817 yr comment_5428428 Eddie Gilbert vs. Ronnie Garvin The first big spot was Gilbert feigning a leg injury and tricks Garvin. Garvins brings his snug, tight offense to the table. Garvin did a swank looking ankle pick on Gilbert. I was dissapointed when Garvin got tied up in the ropes that Gilbert didn't put the boots to him. Gilbert delivers a nice knee drop from the 2nd rope. Then he missed one, and Garvin goes for the Half Boston crab. The finish blew, but Hickerson's punches looked great. This was a solid studio match, but seemed not a nom worthy match. I feel if the wrestlers got a little more time this would have developed into something.

July 28, 200817 yr comment_5433327 I love Ronnie Garvin matches but this has a few things going against it. First, it has the shitty finish and a match has to better than this to have that finish. Next, I just watched a bunch of Garvin-Jake and this was smoked by every match i have seen in that series. I also think that as more matches have come available that something like this is middle-of the road. Garvin is always cool on offense but Gilbert was really generic here. Lets be honest, would this even sniff the NWA set? I don't think so. Not a bad match but not nomination worthy to me.
