Posted January 26, 200817 yr comment_5427522 If Will didn't send anyone this DVD, it's on my YouTube channel at and Yes, the orchestra match. Mantell's offense is really nasty looking here and the false finish with the drummer is awesome. Your mileage may vary but it's worth a look, at least, and if it doesn't go on the main set then it MUST go on as an extra.
January 27, 200817 yr comment_5427547 Shit, I might not have sent it if I saw it said 70s on it. I'll include it somewhere in the next package to somebody.
March 2, 200817 yr comment_5428905 Jeff Jarrett vs. Dutch Mantel (Orchestra Match) (16:58) This was the most surreal shit I have ever seen. With that said, I think it should go on. As just a match, those fucking clothelines from both guys looked friggin evil. I agree with Bix that the use of the drummer was also worth mentioning and I also appreciate the clean finish. Add the cacophonic music and the variety show atmosphere and this is too insane not to include.
April 14, 200817 yr comment_5430659 Yeah this was a fun little match that would probably be worth a disc selection by itself, but stick it in the middle of an Orchestra with Dutch beating up a drummer this is an absolute disc selection
April 14, 200817 yr Author comment_5430661 Check out the credits-Mark Guleen is the drummer. Also, I just noticed that the topic description needs to say "Kentucky" instead of "Kenucky."
August 2, 200817 yr comment_5433514 Holy shit was that a great spectacle. The match itself was really solid with both men looking to impress a different type of crowd than normal plus probably the orchestra too. Speaking of the orchestra man did they rock here with the music being a great backdrop for what was going on in the ring. Dutch beating Mark Guleen with the drum was awesome adding a great element to the match as I'm sure that crowd was shocked to see one of the musicians get involved. Style points also go to Dutch for wearing the furry boots. This is a definite nomination.
August 2, 200817 yr Author comment_5433546 Well, it's not like it was on a regular card and it wouldn't shock me if they didn't promote it on TV.
August 3, 200817 yr comment_5433565 I have zero idea but I'm guessing Feb/March 1989 considering Dutch wore the furry boots at that time.
August 4, 200817 yr Author comment_5433608 We only have one, the one on the disc w/ the '70s Tennessee & Calgary plus the George Gulas indy and GCW Chattanooga.
August 9, 200817 yr comment_5433852 OK, after watching some Dutch matches, I think this may have been 1988. In the Jarrett 1/89 and 3/89 matches, Dutch is wearing regular boots but in the AWA Lawler-Dutch 1988 title match, he is wearing the big fuzzies. Did he stop wearing them for a period and go back to them in 1989?
August 9, 200817 yr Author comment_5433855 Was Guleen's face (as the drummer) shown on camera? When were Beauty & The Beast in the territory?
August 10, 200817 yr comment_5433870 You are correct sir and Guleen had hair then too so it was before the Beauty & Beast gimmick was created. So it was 1988.
August 11, 200817 yr comment_5433872 OK, when we put it on the set, I'll just put it on before the 1989 stuff and after the 1988 stuff and call it 1988.
