Stubbs was overshadowed by Singh here. Bunkhouse Battle Royal (12/29/86, Mid Atlantic) - Man, this was a mess, a battle royal in blue jeans. No one seemed to really care even though Manny Fernandez and Ricky Morton had a nice mini-feud going on. Jumbo Tsuruta/Tenyru v. Stan Hanson/Ted Dibiase - Early on, Jumbo botches a Hansen hip toss. When Ted gets in, he at least tries to give the match some focus by working on Jumbo’s leg. Still, later in the match, Jumbo pushes Ted off a spinning toe hold and Ted tries but fails to clear the rope to go outside. What the hell is wrong with these guys tonight? They try to brawl towards the end but this thing had nothing going for it. No vote. Jumbo Tsuruta/Tenyru v. Stan Hanson/Ted Dibiase (Tag Final, 12/12/86) - This match has the same date as the last one. Is it the same day or is their a continuation? Anyway, this starts off as a brawl early on with the gaigin attacking the natives and taking them outside. This one is worked almost like a Southern tag match with Hansen/Dibiase playing the heels and Tenryu as FIP. The viciousness is in the Americans and the shots they lay in are much stiffer. The tide appears to turn as Dibiase misses a dropkick and Hansen prevents the hot tag to Jumbo. When Jumbo does come in, the crowd picks up. Awesome spot as Jumbo calls for the big knee and as he is about to connect, Hansen pushes Dibiase out of the way which makes Jumbo tumble over the ropes. Eventually, all 4 guys end out of the ring but Jumbo beats the count and wins the match and the RWTL. Much, much better match than the previous one. All action from the bell and I am throwing it on the block.
