Jumbo Tsuruta/Tenyru v. Stan Hanson/Ted Dibiase (Tag Final, 12/12/86)

- This match has the same date as the last one. Is it the same day or is their a continuation? Anyway, this starts off as a brawl early on with the gaigin attacking the natives and taking them outside. This one is worked almost like a Southern tag match with Hansen/Dibiase playing the heels and Tenryu as FIP. The viciousness is in the Americans and the shots they lay in are much stiffer. The tide appears to turn as Dibiase misses a dropkick and Hansen prevents the hot tag to Jumbo. When Jumbo does come in, the crowd picks up. Awesome spot as Jumbo calls for the big knee and as he is about to connect, Hansen pushes Dibiase out of the way which makes Jumbo tumble over the ropes. Eventually, all 4 guys end out of the ring but Jumbo beats the count and wins the match and the RWTL. Much, much better match than the previous one. All action from the bell and I am throwing it on the block.

I bet some people will be freaked out by the structure of this. Basically, Hansen and Dibiase got the better of the opening melee to set up a beatdown on Tenryu that lasted most of the match. Jumbo took the hot tag and did a great man on fire for a minute until the outside brawl that led to the finish. Hansen produced two great moments, one a diving shoulder block to break up a potential tag by Tenryu and the other a shoulder block on Dibiase to keep his partner from taking a Jumbo lariat. Anyway, the match had a good, simple story and nothing but hot action. So I don't care that it went 10 minutes; it's a yes.

Real World Tag League - Finals: Genichiro Tenryu & Jumbo Tsuruta © vs. Ted DiBiase & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen (12/12/86)

Their first match that day was a regular league match I think with this one being the finals as they were the top 2 finishers. Tenryu eats a lariat at the bell and the war from earlier is continued on the floor until Hansen rolls Tenryu into the ring. Tenryu is like Japanese Tommy Rogers here working FIP taking a shitload of punishment as Jumbo Fulton tries to help but fails and I loved the gaijin diving after Tenryu as he tried for a tag. Jumbo would finally get the hot tag and ran wild hitting a fuckin sweet high knee on DiBiase and was laying in the shots on both gaijin before Hansen would tackle DiBiase as Jumbo tried to kill him with another high knee. The battle went back to the floor where DiBiase was nailed by mistake with a lariat and Tenryu got Hansen with a backdrop suplex allowing Jumbo to crawl in the ring to win by countout. I loved this as this was so Southern in it's psychology which was something to see in All-Japan. Definite nomination.
