Posted February 2, 200817 yr comment_5427774 Dory and Terry Funk vs. Bruiser Brody & Stan Hansen (Tag Final, 12/13/82) - This was pretty damn fun with Terry and Hansen bringing a lot to the table. This actually makes me want to seek out those Terry-Stan singles matches and check those out ASAP. The one good thing about the Brody-Dory matchup is that it makes sense for Brody to manhandle Dory since he was so damn old at this point. For good measure, both Funks end up bleeding, seemingly for the hell of it. But fuck, every time Terry and Stan were in the ring together, they went at it like dogs. I am nominating this match on that fact alone. The post-match beatdown on Dory, while Terry was down and out in a pile of streamers, was also great.
April 9, 201015 yr comment_5449217 This match pissed me off so much. It was going perfectly with the Funks established as clear underdogs and Dory getting mauled in the ring. Then, Terry took a Western lariat on the floor and I thought, great, they're setting up a play on last year's tag league closer. I should've known I was set up for a fall when Lou Thesz, the promotion's official buzzkill, got in the ring. Sure enough, the bell rang within seconds and Terry never got up. Look, I wouldn't have minded Hansen and Brody winning. But the fans had waited a year for Terry to get his revenge in this setting and he needed to get off the fucking deck to at least attempt a comeback. The crowd just deflated when than bell rang, and I can't blame them. What the hell was Baba thinking? I can't vote for something that left me so unsatisfied, but I'd support it as an extra.
July 7, 201015 yr comment_5452855 Real World Tag League - Finals: Dory & Terry Funk vs. Bruiser Brody & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen (12/13/82) Jesus the Sumo Hall crowd here is still nuts after the Baba match going apeshit for everyone in the intros throwing streamers. Hansen & Terry were awesome against each other as they just beat the hell out of each other and Terry had some fun exchanges with Brody as well. Dory was solid as usual dishing out hard forearms and european uppercuts but where he shines here is taking punishment from his opponents as they pound him in and out of the ring. The Funks also juice here which is always a plus then you get Lou Thesz getting his ass kicked and Terry getting buried under streamers after a lariat then Brody/Hansen destroying random guys after the bell rings. The finish was what it was but this was a damn fun match with brutality and this moves forward easily.
