Posted February 5, 200817 yr comment_5427875 Joe & Dean Malenko vs. Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers (7/15/89) (22:53) - Watching Dean and Tommy Rogers battle early on with nifty counters was a real treat. Even Joe and Bobby kept my interest with enough momentum shifts and control segments that you couldn’t classify it as bad wrestling. Still, both teams kept it interesting even though the crow didn’t seem to care. What impressed me about these two teams is that the last 7-8 minutes were hot enough that the crowd was really behind the match by the end including the sweet finish. Not crazy and insane but about as much as two gaigin junior teams could muster. Solid nomination. (AJC 184)
April 27, 201015 yr comment_5450095 Lots of slick sequences in this one, and I actually thought Joe was more impressive than Dean. They never built to a holy shit moment but also never ran out of interesting stuff to do over 20 minutes. I don't think any other two teams that will make this set could've produced this type of match. So I second the nomination.
July 12, 201015 yr comment_5453027 Dean & Joe Malenko vs. The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) (7/15/89) Now this was good stuff as these teams went back and forth at a fast pace trading the momentum often and keeping the match flowing easily. A match like this would be very commonplace in today's ROH as it was basic wrestling and counter wrestling with a great stretch run that got Korakuen pretty hot and a damn good finish. Fans chanted for the Malenko's after the match showing respect as this was all-action. Easy nomination.
