All Japan Classics 87

Chavo Guerrero v. Mighty Inoue (NWA Int'l Jr Title, 6/8/83) (16:26)

- I enjoyed this one a little more than the other Chavo match I watched. This had a Lucha vibe to it and they even were able to get the crowd behind them. You also get some big bumps and dives that pick up the energy. The match ends in a double count-out but it was entertaining enough to go to the next round.

Bruiser Brody & Stan Hanson vs. Giant Baba & Jumbo Tsuruta (4/28/83)

- The story here is that Jumbo works most of the early match, getting abused by both Hansen and Brody. And typical of most Brody/Hansen matches, they don’t give the opposition much shine. One nice spot has Hansen applying the bearhug with Brody running and giving Jumbo a jumping knee. When Baba gets the hot tag, he doesn’t get much offense in either but his selling isn’t nearly as convincing as Jumbo’s. The end run was pretty hot with Hansen pinning Jumbo clean after the Lariat. This is a decent match but not a nomination from me.

Giant Baba v. Bruiser Brody (PWF Title, 6/8/83)

- Not good.

NWA International Jr. Heavyweight Title: Chavo Guerrero © vs. Mighty Inoue (6/8/83)

This was a fun little match with some really slick matwork that turned into a match of big moves and big bumps then a battle on the floor for a double countout. I loved Inoue here working in and out of things and Chavo hung right with him plus they got the crowd hot as well. This moves forward.

Bruiser Brody & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen vs. Giant Baba & Jumbo Tsuruta (4/28/83)

Jumbo really gets worked over to start the match as the gaijin just pound him relentlessly before finally getting a tag to Baba who comes in firing shots but it wasn't long before the gaijin took control of him as well. This is classic Brody/Hansen controlling everything and giving hardly nothing in return even to the top natives. There was a decent stretch run ending with Hansen nailing Jumbo with a lariat for a clean win but this isn't a nomination.

PWF Heavyweight Title: Giant Baba © vs. Bruiser Brody (6/8/83)

There is good heat for this match but the action in the ring wasn't so hot. The highlight of this match was Brody losing Baba in a piledriver attempt so he turned it into his own version of a fucking gonzo bomb dropping Baba right on his head. Then we got a bullshit finish even seeing Wild Bill Irwin show up to help Brody.
