Ric Flair vs. Jumbo Tsuruta (Non-Title Match) (10/19/85) - I’ll have to compare all the Flair-Jumbo matchups to see if they all deserve to be on the set but I really liked this one. Pretty subdued match but I liked that Jumbo was the one working on the leg with Flair in survival mode. Flair turned the tied after throwing Jumbo out of the ring and he works in the Figure-4 shortly after. Just when the crowd picks up steam and this one gets moving, it is a time limit draw at the 15-minute mark. I’ll give it a nomination to keep it in the drawing when we compare Flair-Jumbo matches but it may not make it into the later rounds. Tiger Mask vs. Dynamite Kid (11/27/85) - I wasn’t really feeling this match at all and I like both guys. I’ll look around to see if anymore DK-TM2 matches exist because I have a feeling this is the kind of match that people would want to watch and judge for themselves. I won’t be nominating this match. Ric Flair & Rick Martel vs. Jumbo Tsuruta & Genichiro Tenryu (10/22/85) - Perfectly acceptable wrestling but you never buy into the Flair/Martel team. They looked like two singles guys who are teaming for the sake of having two guys to oppose the actual tag team. However, since Jumbo and Tenryu never took over the match, you don’t get to see them really show their stuff either. I might have had high expectations for this match which makes me more disappointed than I should be. No nomination but may maybe I have to revisit this.
September 6, 201015 yr comment_5455359 Mil Mascaras vs. Norio Honaga (10/22/85) Mil wins fairly easily. Already seen Flair/Jumbo. Dynamite Kid vs. Tiger Mask II (11/27/85) IIRC this is the first singles match between these two and it's fun watching them try to recreate the DK/Original TM matches but DK is a lot bigger in 1985 than 1982. The first highlight of the match is DK just nuking TM with a backdrop driver before TM just crashes and burns on a slingshot plancha attempt. DK then hit a huge top rope superplex and his nose is bleeding at this point adding a little extra to this. DK would then suplex TM from the ring to the floor in a wild spot for that time and even now. TM would fire back though with a backdrop suplex on the floor as Tiger Hattori calls for the bell and we have a double countout. This was fun for what it was plus you have name factor of the match but I'm not sold on a nomination. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair & Rick Martel vs. Genichiro Tenryu & Jumbo Tsuruta (10/22/85) One day after wrestling each other in the unification match now these two team up to face the top two natives and they weren't the best of teams as they didn't have any real chemistry. The Flair/Tenryu exchanges were fun as Tenryu was chopping right with Flair. The action picked up and it was good as everyone worked hard but there was no real flow here as again it was like guys doing moves for the sake of moves at times. This should've been a whole lot better.
