Posted February 8, 200817 yr comment_5427950 Jeff Jarrett & Billy Travis vs. The A-Team (11/21/87) Jarrett & Travis look great. Jimmy Jack Funk vs. John Paul (11/21/87) Squash. Steve Keirn comes out looking very 1987 wearing his acid washed jeans and talks about being burned by Jerry Lawler saying that it wasn’t an accident and he knows it. Keirn asks Jeff Jarrett to come out asking for his opinion and it leads to a brawl with Keirn/Funk vs. Jarrett/Lawler and Lawler throwing fire in Funk’s face. Great stuff. Southern Heavyweight Title: Bobby Jaggers © vs. Jerry Lawler (11/21/87) Jaggers attacks Lawler with Nate the Rat’s cane before the bell and chunks him to the floor before posting him twice then slammed his head on the table then a steel chair. Lawler juices here as Jaggers continues to pound on him with the fans chanting for Lawler. Lawler would soon drop the strap and threw some great punches but Jaggers would hit Lawler with a chain and as Jaggers went for the cane again, Lawler schoolboyed Jaggers for the win. Funk & Keirn ran back out and they all beat on Lawler until Jarrett cleans house with a 2x4. Fun stuff. Mark Guleen shows up as a heel manager decked out in a tux in a video introducing Teijho Khan. Teijho Khan vs. Jim Jameson (11/21/87) Squash. Midnight Rockers (Marty Jannetty & Shawn Michaels) show up cutting a promo on the Rock n Roll RPM’s. Hector comes out playing a guitar and singing a song that is fabulous. (11/28/87) Lance interviews Freezer Thompson until Jimmy Jack Funk comes out saying that he is a waste of time. Jimmy Jack Funk vs. Freezer Thompson (11/28/87) Squash. AWA World Heavyweight Title: Rick Martel © vs. Jerry “The King” Lawler (10/12/85) This is a rare match from Nashville and it’s funny watching Martel work heel here. Lawler starts quickly trying to get pins and just working on Martel but Rick would soon get the advantage by working on Lawler’s left leg. Martel just wrenches away on the leg before putting him in the figure-four but Lawler would grab the ropes. Martel continues his attack on the leg by going for the figure-four again but Lawler keeps fighting back. Lawler would make a comeback by using his great punches but Martel just keeps going working on the leg. Lawler would have enough of this though and dropped the strap before firing off the punches then two diving fistdrops off the middle rope. Lawler is feeling it as he just unloads with punches until Martel would throw him into Jerry Calhoun. Martel uses a boot to KO Lawler but Calhoun is still out. Lawler would pick up the boot and nailed Martel that would get him DQed. The finish was crap but this was still a very solid match and a nomination. This is part of the Mayhem in Memphis comp/ Hair vs. Hair Loser Leaves Town Steel Cage Match for the Southern Heavyweight Title: Jerry “The King” Lawler © vs. “Universal Heartthrob” Austin Idol (4/27/87) Is there really any doubt on this being a nomination, I think not. This is a legendary match and a slam dunk nomination.
