Tracy Smothers was the star in this, as he is just flying all over the ring, wrecking people with superkicks and dropkicks. The interactions between him and Hashimoto rule, including them doing a points karate spot. CWA 3/25/89-4/1/89
May 9, 200817 yr comment_5431197 CWA Tag Titles: The Mason-Dixon Connection (John Paul & Tracy Smothers) © vs. Samurai (Shinji Sasazaki) & Shogun (Shinya Hashimoto) (3/25/89) Hashimoto is so fucking great here and you could tell from watching his Memphis run that he had what it took to become a major star. Smothers looked great too and the interaction with Hash was great because they had experience facing each other in New Japan in 1988. John Paul would play FIP and took a beating from the Japanese who were a pretty damn good team. Tracy makes the hot tag and would hit a sweet back kick on Sasazaki to get the win. This should move forward.
August 1, 200817 yr comment_5433468 Agreed. Hashimoto made this match. The exchanges between Smothers and Hash were awesome. I gotta point out one spot. Smothers hopping into the ring and kicking Samurai as he comes running looked pretty sweet. Anyway, easy nomination for the match itself AND a chance to get these 4 guys on the set.
August 1, 200817 yr Author comment_5433471 I also think we should make a music video of Hashimoto mauling Chris Frazier, it seemed like this poor schmuck would get matched up every week against Hash in tags, and Hashimoto would just Mike Levy him every time
