Posted February 14, 200817 yr comment_5428110 A lot of these on here are clips I have seen so here are the ones I haven’t seen. Texas Death Match for the Southern Heavyweight Title: Bam Bam Bigelow © vs. Jerry “The King” Lawler (9/7/86) This is JIP with Bigelow already having won two falls and Lawler soon ties it up using his great punches as a catalyst. Bammer would make a comeback and started pounding on Lawler rendering him bloody. Bigelow threw one right hand punch so hard that he went flying to the mat with Lawler then went with a choke sleeper to win the 5th fall. Bammer continues the beating as we start the 6th fall but Lawler would lock in his own version of a choke sleeper that took Bammer down but he would get up with Lawler on his back and threw him off to win the 6th fall. Lawler gets up and is fired up dropping the strap as the 7th fall starts and just unloads shots on Bigelow sending him to the floor then bringing him back in the ring for more. Bigelow would start trading with Lawler although Lawler kept the advantage but Bigelow would have enough energy to throw Lawler into Jerry Calhoun. Bigelow would cover Lawler for a pinfall even though he had his feet on the ropes. Larry Sharpe would come in with a steel chair ready to hit Lawler but hit Bigelow instead as the rest period ends. Calhoun starts counting both men with Sharpe yelling at Bigelow to get up but both get counted out so the first one up wins the match. Kenny D is on the floor pleading with Lawler to get up and Bigelow rolls around but Lawler uses the ropes to help him up to win the match and the title. This was some great stuff and a definite nomination but the lack of the first two falls hurts, is there a full version around? Loser Leaves Town for the Southern Heavyweight Title: “Superstar” Bill Dundee © vs. Jerry “The King” Lawler (6/6/83) This is an easy no doubt slam dunk nomination. Something I loved about this was that the wrestlers were at ringside sitting in chairs watching the match like fans. Loser Leaves Town for the Southern Heavyweight Title: “Macho Man” Randy Savage © vs. Jerry “The King” Lawler (6/3/85) Jerry Calhoun isn’t inside the ring but is out on the floor so that adds a little extra to this one. Savage stalls a bit early but Lawler doesn’t let that last long as he peppers him with punches. Savage would take the advantage though with a short lariat but Lawler stopped it quick with a punch to the balls making Savage go back to his stalling game. We go to a break and come back with Savage & Lawler clashing heads as they run the ropes and both men go down hard. Lawler would get up first though and started firing the punches but would miss a running shoulderblock into the corner. Savage would start punching Lawler then would send him flying off the apron into the ringside table followed up by a diving axehandle off the rope to the floor. Lawler is juicing here and Savage starts working on it relentlessly with punches then posts him. Savage takes it back to the ring where he continues the onslaught and Jerry Calhoun wants the match stopped due to Lawler taking massive punishment to a near riot. Savage then takes shots at Lawler who would roll to the floor and demanded the house mic where he demanded the match continue and Tom Renesto let the match continue with Lawler taking full responsibility. Savage would go on the offensive as the match restarted but Lawler starts going crazy demanding more punishment then drops the strap where he just unloaded punches on Savage. Lawler then hit 2 diving fistdrops on Savage and a piledriver for the win as MSC goes nuts. This was great stuff and a definite nomination.
February 14, 200817 yr comment_5428114 Do we have the Rude-Lawler cage match on another DVD besides this one? I haven't watched it recently but remember liking it.
February 14, 200817 yr Author comment_5428115 I don't know but it looked fun for the short bit they showed.
March 22, 200817 yr comment_5429739 Is this the best looking version of the Loser Leaves Town Savage match?
March 22, 200817 yr comment_5429740 Yes. I don't mind the brief tracking issues since they're during the stoppage.
March 22, 200817 yr comment_5429741 OK, I am also going to throw in the commercial that appears right before they come back from the break... classic.
March 22, 200817 yr comment_5429747 Wrestling Nostalgia package They start off trying to cut a tomato with a VHS tape. It then goes on to sell the product which includes Wrestling's Greatest Heroes and Wrestling's Greatest Villians. It also includes a History of Wrestling Book. All for only $49.95. Still, the tomato makes the commercial.
March 22, 200817 yr Author comment_5429753 It makes you laugh and cry if you remember buying VHS tapes back then for those absurd prices.
March 23, 200817 yr comment_5429761 It makes you laugh and cry if you remember buying VHS tapes back then for those absurd prices. No kidding. I rermember my big Christmas present one year was getting "Ringmasters: The Great American Bash" on vhs, which had to be ordered by my folks out of the mags at god-knows-what price..especially converting the $$ from Canadian to American.
