Posted February 15, 200817 yr comment_5428130 No DQ: Jerry “The King” Lawler vs. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert (3/28/88) This is JIP from MSC and Gilbert tries to cut and run as often as he can to stay away from Lawler but it doesn’t work as Lawler just throws punches in bunches on Gilbert sending him to the floor. Gilbert would get the advantage by breaking off the tag rope from the corner and uses it to choke Lawler then ties Lawler up in the corner by the neck so he can pound on him. Lawler gets loose though and starts working on Gilbert before dropping the strap and unloading on Gilbert. Lawler goes for a piledriver and stuffs him in the mat but misses his diving fistdrop off the middle rope. Gilbert signals to Missy on the floor and she goes to take off her shoe but Jerry Bryant takes it from her and Lawler throws a mega fireball in Gilbert’s face. Doug & Tommy come out taking Eddie to the back as he gets counted out. This was great stuff but the quality isn’t hot, a nomination though nonetheless.
February 18, 200817 yr comment_5428233 The quality on this is real bad. This is pretty heated. I liked how Lawler teased the fire like Jake would tease the DDT. A great spot was how Gilbert tied the King with rope into the corner and just beat the crap out of Lawler. It was a great finish with Lawler throwing fire at Gilbert and Gilbert gets counted out. The finish was great because Lawler gets revenge, doesn't pin Gilbert, so the can work more matches with one another. I feel this is nom worthy.

July 12, 200817 yr comment_5432830 OK, I sat through this and I don't know if I would put it on the set anyway. I think as we have progressed through the footage, there are more than enough awesome matches that this seems so middle-of the pack. It feels like a match where people will make comments like "OK match but the fireball makes it stand out". VQ aside, I vote no.
July 30, 200817 yr comment_5433409 I think you are crazy Will, great stuff with big bumping Eddie fun MS stricken Jerry Bryant interference and great looking Lawler punches. I loved Eddie boy scout knotting Lawler in the corner and pounding on him, plus the fireball finish was awesome. I think Bix said he got a VQ upgrade so that isn't an issue, but this feels slam dunk to me
