Posted February 20, 200817 yr comment_5428306 Andre v. Stan Hansen 9/23/81 Balls to the wall awesome brawl. Both guys come in completely out of control throwing bombs. Really feels like the greatest bar fight in history. Lots of cool little spots, Hansen larieting Andre in the back of the head to break a bearhug. Andre taking big bumps to the floor, the bodyslam, Andre putting on his own lariet pad and wrecking the ref. Slamdunk pick, and a probable top ten match Andre + Rene Goulet v. Antonio Inoki + Tatsumi Fujinami 12/10/81 This was a bunch of fun, Inoki and Andre work really well together, and I loved Andre eating headscissors from both guys. Plus Andre's offense looks really devastating, and Fujinami flies all over the ring for it. Finish was incredibly violent looking too. I am throwing this on the block Andre v. Antonio Inoki 3/26/82 Not a match really, Andre wins very quickly by countout, and brawls with Khan. I assume this was league match Andre v. Rusher Kimura 3/30/82 Clipped and short Andre v. Killer Khan 3/31/82 Fun short brawl, but this was maybe four minutes before your New Japan double count out finish Andre v. Hulk Hogan 6/18/82 This isn't a spectacular match, but I really enjoyed it. It is of course one of the most famous match ups in history, and it is fun to see it be really good. Hogan's offense actually looked good here, as he really was laying it in. Finish is especially nasty with Andre busting Hogan open huge, I am going to throw this up too.
February 21, 200817 yr comment_5428329 Andre v. Stan Hansen 9/23/81 I had this match on my computer for about 5 years. Seriously, one of my favorite matches. Easy nomination.
February 21, 200817 yr Author comment_5428330 Andre in the 70's and early 80's was a seriously awesome wrestler, if we ever do a seventies set, all of the Inoki matches will definitly make it
February 21, 200817 yr comment_5428331 I like a few matches but some of them really suck. I am not ready to jump on the Awesome Andre bandwagon. I do like that he bumped all over the place huge for Hansen and that this felt as out of control as an Andre match will ever feel like. This also just reinforces my opinion that Hansen is a god amongst men.
February 27, 200817 yr Author comment_5428756 How much 70's Andre have you seen? He was at his best back then, by the time you get to the 80's he was getting bigger and less mobile
February 27, 200817 yr comment_5428765 The only 70s Andre I have seen is the stuff from Frank Jewett's 70s Japan set and even then, that was just glancing at the TV when I could so I didn't get a real feel for the matches. I was shocked to see him go 40 minutes with Strong Kobayashi and a 30 minute Inoki match from 1977.
