Posted February 23, 200817 yr comment_5428456 Goofy set of shows, first show has Freddy v. Buddy Landell Yeah this makes a set, totally goofball stuff, with Landell hiding a non-existant foreign object, Freddy jumping around, great enraged Ronnie Gosset, Jason run in. Not really any wrestling, but this rules Second show was based around Ronnie Gossett as booker of the week, and was the prototype for all the shitty heel GM episodes of RAW, all handicap matches with crooked refs. Third show was all about Eddie Marlin booking revenge matches from the previous week. Third show did have a fun Jeff Jarrett/Jerry Lawler v. Wildside match that was too short to make a set
May 16, 200817 yr comment_5431320 “Superstar” Bill Dundee & “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes vs. Rough & Ready (8/12/89) Squash. DWB & Bart come out crying after the match about losing to Dundee & Dustin at MSC on 8/7/89 then talk about the future bunkhouse matches against them. Next is a video of Dundee finding Texas Dirt on a ranch to avenge Dutch Mantell’s honor. This is great stuff and a definite extra. “Dirty White Boy” Tony Anthony, Black Bart, & Master of Pain vs. Tim Hall, Rodney Napper, & Freezer Thompson (8/12/89) Squash. Dave Brown then talks about Jerry Bryant going through his fight with Lou Gehrig’s Disease and they are trying to raise money for him. This is so sad. Gossett then makes a crack at Bryant. Next are clips of a Coward Waves The Flag match with Lawler/Bigelow from MSC on 8/7/89 with quite the interesting ending. Marlin & Gossett then get into it at the desk. The Black Birds (Brickhouse Brown & Iceman Parsons) & Wild Side (Chris Champion & Mark Starr) vs. Chris Frazier, Danny McShane, Ken Raper, & TD Steele (8/12/89) What a fucking heel team. TD Steele makes his debut and a Memphis legend is born. RnR Express sent in a taped promo after the match talking about the Birds & Wild Side. Freddy’s mask on the line: Nightmare Freddy (Tommy Gilbert) vs. “Nature Boy” Buddy Landell (8/12/89) Landell is so awesome here as a chickenshit heel and his fiddling around with his “foreign object” is great. Freddy is sick of Gossett holding him so Landell can pop him so he brings Lawler out to counter Gossett. Lawler then holds Landell in the corner so Freddy can get his shots in. Freddy would get the claw on Landell leading to Gossett running in for the DQ and a wild brawl breaks out featuring Jason scaring everyone. I loved this and fuck it should go on the set. Dave Brown introduces the booker of the week Ronnie Gossett as he had beaten Eddie Marlin at MSC on 8/14/89 to earn the right and he stacks the deck for his boys. CWA Tag Titles: Wild Side (Chris Champion & Mark Starr) © vs. Spike Huber & Jerry “The King” Lawler (8/19/89) Gossett throws this team together and of course Lawler tries to make a tag and Huber hides in the corner. It’s basically a handicap match and Wild Side gets DQed for spike piledriving Lawler. Huber celebrates with Wild Side after the match. Gossett then fires Calhoun afterwards. The Black Birds (Brickhouse Brown & Iceman Parsons) & Harold Harris vs. Nightmare Freddy (Tommy Gilbert), Rough & Ready (8/19/89) Boss Winters is the new referee for the day and of course Freddy’s partners don’t want to tag in. Harris comes in the ring and gets some shots in and Freddy chases him around the ring. Freddy would soon get pinned by everyone and this was fun. Jason would come out after the match with Freddy and Gossett would introduce them to Frankenstein & The Wolfman. “Dirty White Boy” Tony Anthony & Black Bart vs. Cousin Junior & Super Destroyer (8/19/89) Another handicap match with Boss as the ref and the result is a given. Doug Gilbert comes out wanting a LLT match with Lawler as revenge for Lawler beating his brother & Jimmy Hart in past years. Lawler accepts and Gossett appoints a mystery referee which is him under an Assassin mask. Funny stuff. Gary Albright & Doug Gilbert vs. Rodney Napper & Texas Dirt (Dutch Mantell) (8/19/89) Dirt leaves the ring and gets counted out. Master of Pain & Little Road Warrior vs. Tim Hall & TD Steele (8/19/89) Gossett kicks Brown out of the broadcast area and goes solo for this match. Gossett then has the heels out for a closing promo. MOP is especially hilarious here. Dave Brown interviews Gossett to start the next week’s show where he gloats about his great job the previous week and Eddie Marlin returns. Marlin then books revenge week on Gossett with the good guys getting the favorable treatment. CWA Tag Titles: Wild Side (Chris Champion & Mark Starr) © vs. Jeff Jarrett & Jerry “The King” Lawler (8/26/89) Champion complains the early part of the match about this being unfair but it would soon turn into a regular match with Jarrett playing FIP and Lawler cleaning house. Gossett would then jump in the ring to hit Lawler and holding him up for Champion to bring in his snake but it gets put on Gossett instead as the crowd erupts. The match ends on a DQ and this was lots of fun for what it was. Next we get a taped promo from the RnR Express about getting revenge on the Birds & Wild Side as the heels will be taped together. Texas Dirt then comes out wanting a LLT match with MOP and this is a good segment as Marlin comes out with his mystery referee which is Marlin under a mask. Texas Dirt (Dutch Mantell) vs. Spike Huber (8/26/89) Huber gets payback for last week. Master of Pain vs. Donnie Kelly (8/26/89) Squash. The Black Birds (Brickhouse Brown & Iceman King Parsons) vs. Chris Frazier & Tim Hall (8/26/89) Squash. Jason & Jeff Jarrett vs. Rough & Ready (8/26/89) Squash. Jarrett subs for Nightmare Freddy and Boss Winters gets attacked after the match.
July 4, 200817 yr Author comment_5432640 Will you sent me the 8/12 show by itself from WMC in pristine quality, so we might want to get the Freddy v. Landell match from there
