The crowd was quiet until the end when Jumbo wins after a backdrop driver. Stan Hanson & Ted Dibiase vs. Giant Baba & Genichiro Tenyru (07/05/86) - Nice back and forth action here. Neither team keeps the advantage long enough so you have no idea who is going to pull this out. After about ten minutes, this ends in a double countout. I enjoyed this match but not enough to think it is one of the best matches of the 1980s. Hiro Saito vs. Pete Roberts (07/19/86) - I have never seen Roberts before but he does some nice stuff. There is some decent ground game going on here. Saito wins after an awkward pinning sequence. Jumbo Tsuruta & Tiger Mask vs. Ted Dibiase & Pete Roberts (07/22/86) - This is a sprint and both teams do some nice stuff but you can tell they are rushing through the match. In a shock of all shocks, after about 8 minutes, Jumbo pins Hansen clean in the middle of the ring after a backdrop driver. Jumbo Tsuruta & Genichiro Tenyru vs. Stan Hanson & Ted Dibiase (07/19/86) - Another sprint that was building up nicely but the end run was a mess. None of the guys looked like they knew where they were supposed to be.

February 23, 200817 yr comment_5428494 Will, you never saw that match? I liked it a bunch, although some people hated it
February 23, 200817 yr Author comment_5428500 No, I didn't participate in the Other Japan set. In my mind, I kept thinking Buddy Roberts which made me want to see the match even though I knew it wasn't Buddy.
September 7, 201015 yr comment_5455392 Tiger Mask II & Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Isamu Teranishi & Yoshiaki Yatsu (7/5/86) Decent match nothing special. Giant Baba & Genichiro Tenryu vs. Ted DiBiase & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen (7/5/86) This was a good back and forth match with both teams looking good and getting all their offense in at a fast pace. It was kinda on the short side though as after Hansen killed Baba with a lariat, Tenryu got him with an enzuigiri leading to everyone going to the floor for the double countout. There was a fun brawl after the match featuring Jumbo running out in tennis shoes while wearing his gear. Again another match that if it had 5-10 more minutes could've been a nomination. AJPW World Jr. Heavyweight Title Tournament: Hiro Saito vs. Pete Roberts (7/19/86) Roberts brings his British style here and does some interesting stuff but there is zero heat and Hiro wins with a weird pin. Tiger Mask II & Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Ted DiBiase & Pete Roberts (7/26/86) This is another tag match that I've seen today that was a good match featuring some good action but it lacks something that keeps it from being a nomination. This match was too short as these guys were zooming along trying to get their offense in. Fun while it lasted. Ted DiBiase & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen vs. Genichiro Tenryu & Jumbo Tsuruta (7/19/86) These guys are hitting hard here and it's very fun as everyone is giving as well as they took. Hansen would eventually bring in a steel chair as Jumbo had DiBiase ready for a backdrop suplex and popped him with it but Joe Higuchi didn't DQ him surprisingly. DiBiase would then hit Hansen by mistake sending him to the floor so Hansen brought the chair in again and kept using it in front of Higuchi as Tenryu hit DiBiase with an enzuigiri sending him to the floor. Jumbo then used the chair numerous times as Higuchi counted the other guys out. This was quite the match.
