I may have Fredo's Best of WIN '89 stuff on VHS somewhere, though DVDs from him would be preferable (though who knows if any WIN would get nominated).

 

I think the cool older Monterrey from Barnett is all early '90s.

 

There's also a dude at another board who doesn't trade anymore but says he has a bunch of EMLL from Univision & Galavsion that he taped off his satellite dish. Also I can bug Kurt Brown to see what he has. I think Jose has said that Kurt has a bunch of rare stuff.

 

None of the recent history specials on big matches had anything complete, right (though they may be extra worthy)?

Hi all. In two weeks I will be back in Spain for a long weekend and I have all of my lucha there. Do you need anything?

 

David, look at my match lists at the collectors corner. I used to write up lists for everything (even stuff I would not watch in months, I would just pop in a DVD a ffwd through the matches to get the list).

David, do you have Kurt Brown's number? Give him a call (he is slow with email and I never ever catch him online on AIM either). He may not have much that we do not have yet, but I know that he has got some 1981 lucha style wrestling from Los Angeles with Black Shadow (THE ORIGINAL) and some others. That match may be shit but we may find a gem somewhere else. I have tried to get him to send me that for years but I think he does not even know where it is (he is almost as bad as me when it comes to being slow in sending tapes/shows).

Guys, this summer I am going to Japan for a wedding and will try to get a copy of Dandy vs. Pirata Morgan hair vs hair. It is on Champion.

 

Problem is... not a single one of my friends bought a VCR after moving out of their parent's house. I imagine that I can get the guy from the store to make a copy for me (since I am a foreigner) but I also know retards like Mayfield used to do that and get charged hideous prices.

 

Do we have a budget for that? Say, I would pay 30 bucks myself but would think twice about 80.

 

Just in case Phil needs to be convinced, same tape also has got Mogur vs. Chucho Mascara 2000 mask vs mask which should be good by itself. Only worrying thing is that the tape is something like 45 minutes, but I just assume the unmasking will be cut (like the As Charro match).

I know. Who am I kidding? I have wanted to see that one for years. The cover is Dandy and Morgan with their faces completely covered in blood.

 

Unless it gets ridiculous I will cover it out of my pocket. But it is not 2000 anymore and nobody is lucha crazy in Japan so he may do it for 30 or 40 bucks. But then you guys will have to send me free sets for everything you ever do. It's only fair. Dandy, Morgan, blood. Fair enough.

David, do you have the Alfredo lucha tape with WIN and some Juarez stuff?

 

I am totally convinced that Kurt has got to have some Juarez. In fact I remember having a Juarez tape back in 1993 or so (way before the internet). As much as I try to remember I do not know how that tape reached my hands or where it is now. WIN and Juarez may be good for funny extras (a Freddy Kruger match or the WIN match with the four Guerreros in an eight man tag).

 

Anybody's got a Konnan contact? I have not been close to people in his circle since 1998 or so. It would be kind of interesting to have him in the project and more important he sounds like a guy that would have some hidden gems. If anybody in the world outside of the TV station has got the Eddy Guerrero hair matchs vs. La Fiera and Negro Casas it's Konnan. And this is pretty much me fantasizing but if anybody can get their hands on the Televisa archive it may be him (We seriously need to get a tape of El Faraon vs Sangre Chicana hair vs hair someday because that may be better than Chicana vs MS-1).

Random thoughts are coming to my head but I think a good name to try to talk to would be Ernesto Ocampo. Apparently Rob Bihari and him are pretty good friends now, and I assume Ernesto knows who to talk to regarding footage. I will move that connection to see what's up.

There's a 1986 UWA handheld that has Dr Wagner y El Faraon vs Mil Mascaras y El Solitario as the mainevent with Canek, Brazo Oro, Brazo Plata vs Quazar, Stuka, Enrique Vera and Avispon Negro, Kendo, Black Man vs F.Guerrera, Talisman, Brazo on the undercard.

 

I'm not sure if it's part of the raw footage mentioned. The matches were disappointing for the most part.

Finally rented this bad boy from Champion:

 

 

I'll try to make a copy tomorrow with my junior high school's AV equipment, but it's a rental tape so we'll see how that goes. I tried buying this tape everywhere, but it's the world's most rare VHS tape.
