Posted February 24, 200817 yr comment_5428521 Chavo Guerrero vs. Masa Fuchi (NWA Int'l Jr. Title, 8/31/83) (18:56) - This was much more action-packed than their dull American match. The theme of this amtch was how are you going to escape my hold and capitalize off of it. Early on, I really loved how Chavo held onto his neck vice through several sequences as Fuchi tried in vain to escape. In turn, Chavo had to work out of an arm grapevine and turned it into a bow and arrow hold. Later on, he escaped a neck scissor by picking Fuchi up and dropping him head first on the turnbuckle. It looked better than I described it. By the end, the crowd was hot and Chavo finally put it away with a rollup flip. This was much moe exciting than the Savannah match and is on par with the Inoue match I nominated. I think this was better though. Easy nomination. (AJC 94)
April 10, 201015 yr comment_5449288 I'm a big fan of both guys so I was happy to see this on the list. The opening sequence of matwork and counters was tightly worked and fun to watch. The match lost its verve a little bit in the middle but picked up again with the crowd popping big for a bunch of Fuchi nearfalls. It peaked before the actual ending but this is still a solid nomination.
August 30, 201015 yr comment_5455153 NWA International Jr. Heavyweight Title: Chavo Guerrero © vs. Masa Fuchi (8/31/83) Fuchi's ring jacket is quite fabulous here. This was good stuff as it was a game of mental chess as well as physical as both men were trying to outthink the other whenever one tried to get the advantage and this led to some really good counter wrestling and in Fuchi's case being agile on the floor avoiding dives by Chavo. Onita was shown on the floor cheering on his best friend as he was mounting a comeback on Chavo trying to win the title that Onita had to vacate due to injuries and that was a nice touch. The crowd got hot around this time as the match was really getting going and Fuchi broke out this funky version of the figure-four which looked like it hurt like hell which led to a really fun stretch run with Fuchi coming so close but Chavo would get the win on a sunset flip. This moves forward easily.
