Posted February 24, 200817 yr comment_5428556 Jaguar Yokota vs. Lioness Asuka (8/22/85) - Christ, I have heard it before but what these girls were doing in 1985 compared to the rest of the world was insane. I usually try to recap the theme or spots in a match so I can remember the match in the future but this match is happening so fast there isn’t any real sequence I can type quick enough without missing something. I guess I can look to Jaguar working the leg to keep Asuka grounded and between those segments, they pull out the flash pins, roll ups, roll throughs, flips, dives, etc. Just beautiful sequences. Christ, Jaguar even breaks out a jackhammer 12 years before Goldberg. When Asuka reverses a Figure-4, that creates an opening for her to start attacking Jaguar’s leg. Super hot ending as they unload on each other trying to get the pin. Jaguar breaks out the double underhook piledriver and Asuka’s kicks are stiff as hell. In one of the most insane sequences ever (for 1985), Asuka teases a superplex counter to the outside before flapjacking her into the ring from the top rope. She then proceeds to miss a frog splash as Jaguar rolls out of the way. This made me hit the rewind button a couple of times. This opens up the door for Jaguar to get a leg hook, backdrop driver pin thingamabob. Fuck, this match wasn’t quite as great as the Nagayo-Masami match but it was pretty damn great. I have seen so much awesome joshi in a short span that I won’t guess where it ends up but it is at #2 for the moment. EDIT: I just realized that all three matches I nominated were all form the same show. Fuck, greatest show ever.
