Posted February 25, 200817 yr comment_5428616 LYNCH 7.1 Jerry “The King†Lawler vs. Crusher Blackwell (5/4/81) This was during a time when Hart was bringing in random guys weekly to take care of Lawler but it was for naught. Blackwell goes on the attack from the start with a dropkick and just takes it from there as he throws Lawler to the floor where he gives him a big slam. Blackwell would continue the pounding then we got a clip and come back to the point where Lawler begins his comeback using his great punches to take Blackwell down. This turns into a slugfest with both men punching each other down to the mat. Blackwell would hit a backdrop suplex for a nearfall but Lawler would get up and used one of his own on Blackwell for a nearfall. We get another clip with Lawler getting beat on again as Blackwell uses his weight to weaken Lawler but Lawler would soon enough drop the strap and the punches come flying. Lawler would miss his diving fistdrop from the middle rope but Blackwell would miss his big splash with Lawler covering him for the win. This had a couple of clips but still I’m throwing it on the block.
March 3, 200817 yr comment_5428964 Lawler vs. Blackwell Blackwell should be a great opponent for Lawler. He's huge, agile and an awesome bumper for a big man. Their is some slight clipping, but the men work great together. Blackwell sold Lawler's punches great. Lawler does a belly to back suplex to the big man. The pacing in this is quick. Lawler is go great at selling the beating. Blackwell takes some huge bumps in this match. I liked the finish here and it deserves the nomination.
March 4, 200817 yr comment_5429005 Jerry “The King” Lawler vs. Crusher Blackwell (5/4/81) - I loved this match when I put this on my Lawler comp a couple of years ago. I know Bigelow got a lot of props for being an agile big man but I think people need to see more Blackwell. Combine someone like Blackwell with the big offense and Jerry Lawler and you get a great match. I wish it would have gone a little longer but this is still a nomination.
April 24, 200817 yr comment_5430841 I fourth this as a nomination. Everyone is talking about how great Lawler's punches are, but fuck did Blackwell have some great looking punches too. Just a super fun match
August 5, 200817 yr comment_5433652 I remember seeing this in EX VQ somewhere in the last few dayss but I have been through so many Mempho discs that I have no idea where I saw it. If anyone remembers seeing a VQ upgrade on this, let me know. If not, I can always use the Lynch version.
August 5, 200817 yr comment_5433655 Are you sure it wasn't the other Lawler-Blackwell match that's available clipped?
August 6, 200817 yr comment_5433657 Shit, there is two of them? I'll go with the safe bet and put on the Lynch one.
