All Japan Classics 125

Mil Mascaras vs. Kuniaki Kobayashi (IWA Title, 01/28/86)

- There wasn’t much to this one. I like both guys and it had some nice sequences but nothing that would make a set.

Stan Hansen & Ted Dibiase vs. Harley Race & Jesse Barr (11/30/85)

- I sort of feel bad for this match. You get the feeling that the crowd would be going insane if this took place in Kansas City or St. Louis. The Hansen/Dibiase team isn’t really that over despite being pretty damn good so far. The layout is very similar to the Jumbo/Mask match where Race and Hansen setup their partners but they can’t keep momentum. However, none of that matters as Hansen just RIPS BARR’S HEAD OFF. Seriously, that was the best Lariat ever. Make sure I add the end clip as an extra on a disc somewhere.

Giant Baba & Dory Funk Jr vs. Jumbo Tsuruta & Genichiro Tenryu (12/12/85)

- These guys are going long and they have no problem acting like it. Lots of resting, lots of stationary holds. It picks up in the end but compared to other tags that are nominated, this doesn’t have a chance.

Already seen Mil/Kobayashi.

Real World Tag League: Ted DiBiase & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen vs. Jesse Barr & "Mr. Puroresu" Harley Race (11/30/85)

Short but fun match and it's always great seeing Race & Hansen square off with each other. The lariat on Barr was just ridiculous and definitely should be on the set as an extra.

Real World Tag League: Giant Baba & Dory Funk Jr. vs. Genichiro Tenryu & Jumbo Tsuruta (12/12/85)

Jumbo against Baba at Budokan....it doesn't get much better than that. Like Childs I enjoyed the whole story of Tenryu trying to prove himself to Jumbo as a worthy tag partner by bringing the heat on Baba only for Baba to show him that he isn't quite in his league yet proving to Jumbo that he can still be a top level partner for him. Also I agree with Childs as they didn't go the normal boring route to start the long matches and they did quite a bit of stuff early to keep the match moving along. Then you get the Jumbo/Baba exchanges with Jumbo trying to prove himself to Baba that he is now the top dog in All-Japan and that was fun as they were trying their best to take the other out but barely failed at every attempt. Dory was the odd man out here but he was fine in his role. They started brawling on the floor and the fans were going nuts because they thought the double countout was coming but Dory & Jumbo crawled back in the ring just in time making the crowd go even more nuts. Then we get an awesome stretch run with a fantastic finish and I don't know what the fuck Will was thinking as this was great stuff. Definite nomination as everything just gelled right here.
