Posted February 27, 200817 yr comment_5428691 Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Higo Hamaguchi (3/13/86) (13:50) - This is a great David & Goliath match up. You can notice Jumbo getting frustrated because it appears like this should be a match that he controls but Higo keeps getting the best of him. However, when Jumbo does punish him, he stops Higo cold. Still, Higo never gives up. For example, Jumbo hits him with a nice piledriver, but when Higo recovers, he executes one as well to show that turnaround is fair play. The end was really hot and there were points you thought Higo could pull off the upset. However, Jumbo ends it with a Thesz Press of all things. Great match. (AJC 126)
April 22, 201015 yr comment_5449800 Hamaguchi got his underdog challenge off to a great start with that dropkick while Jumbo had his back turned. I loved the theme of Jumbo pulling Hamaguchi up at two to demonstrate his obvious superiority only for Hamaguchi to take advantage of his hubris to land big flurries of offense. When Jumbo finally put him away, he did it emphatically, as if to say he was finally done fucking around with this little prick. Anyway, they showed how much can be done with the dynamic of smaller, lower ranked guy against big, dominant ace. Definite contender for the top 1/3 of my ballot and a strong nomination.
July 4, 201015 yr comment_5452704 Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Animal Hamaguchi (3/13/86) I loved the Hamaguchi dropkick as Jumbo turned his back as it told the fans that he wanted to beat Jumbo and he wasn't fucking around. Hamaguchi was a pesky fucker as Jumbo thought at various times that he had Hamaguchi down but Animal would always find a way to get a big move whether it be a backdrop suplex or a piledriver. Hamaguchi would hit all his big moves for nearfalls but Jumbo would backdrop Animal over the top rope and gave him a piledriver to the floor to regain the advantage. Jumbo would then hit some big moves before a Thesz Press to win and this was a really solid showing from both men. This easily moves forward.
