All Japan Classics 153

Mighty Inoue & Takashi Ishikawa vs. Masanobu Kurisu & Isamu Teranishi (All-Asian Tag Titles, 7/30/87)

- I might revisit this at a later time if someone nominates it. These guys worked hard but the Japanese crowd really didn’t care and neither did I.

Stan Hansen & Ted Dibiase vs. Jumbo Tsuruta & Tiger Mask (PWF Tag Title, 7/11/87)

- I really enjoyed the 7/3 matchup between the two teams. Man, I like a lot of things in this one. I love Jumbo abusing Ted’s arm and throwing him into the corners. It still carries the formula of Jumbo and Hansen as team captains with the other two trying not to screw it up. I think this one has the more satisfying finish though wih Hansen giving the 2nd best Lariat ever. I’ll nominate it but only one should be included on the set if one is to make it past the next round.

Stan Hansen & Ted Dibiase vs. Yoshiaki Yatsu & Shinichi Nakano (PWF Tag Title, 7/17/87)

- It is hard to get excited about this match after the last tag. Hansen wins with a sweet Lariat.

All-Asia Tag Titles: Mighty Inoue & Takashi Ishikawa © vs. Masa Kurisu & Isamu Teranishi (7/30/87)

Hey an AA tag title match makes it to Classics. This is JIP and was a decent match but this crowd couldn't give a shit.

PWF Tag Titles: Tiger Mask II & Jumbo Tsuruta © vs. Ted DiBiase & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen (7/11/87)

Here is the rematch so let's see how this compares to the 7/3 match. There is some similarities to that match regarding the formula but there is some differences as it had more of a structured feel not a total sprint. Jumbo & Hansen hit hard here as usual and the partners get more offense here than the last match which was a plus. Jumbo gets his left arm worked over good here but him & TM would return the favor by working over Ted's left arm and this was fun stuff. Jumbo taking the cobra twist to the mat on Hansen was a sweet little move and this setup a hot stretch run with TM giving Hansen everything he could before eating a monster lariat to give the gaijin the titles back. This was superior to the 7/3 match in many ways and this is a solid nomination.

PWF Tag Titles: Ted DiBiase & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen © vs. Shinichi Nakano & Yoshiaki Yatsu (7/17/87)

Nakano & Yatsu have been very fun in the past so let's see how it goes here. Nakano is tanned here and he looks like mini Choshu which is funny. Nakano is fun here taking a beating playing the spunky role. The natives would work over DiBiase's left leg relentlessly with Hansen being great at trying to break it up as at one point he threw DiBiase to the floor but Yatsu would take advantage of that by wrapping his leg around the ringpost. Yatsu would go for the Prison Lock a couple of times with DiBiase who was awesome throughout this control section selling pain before finally getting it on until Hansen came in and just fucking bullrushed him then threw him to the floor so DiBiase could tag him. The match then turned into a 4-way on the floor but Hansen would miss a running knee and hit all ringpost so now you have both gaijin selling their legs. Yatsu would then go for the Prison Lock on Hansen before DiBiase bullrushed him with a lariat. Yatsu would then tag in Nakano who quickly ate a hard fuckin lariat for the win. The finish came out of complete nowhere but this was a very fun match with some great selling by the gaijin and the natives being really solid. This is a nomination.
