They are bots sent out by major search engines to trawl pages just like they do with websites.

 

It usually helps bring people to the forum via googling for a phrase found here etc.

It's a good thing you're not Bashy, because if you were, I'd say to you, "Bashy, board free, but board meet needs." Bashy should really save Tara Reid analogies for when they're appropriate.

At the moment, I'm about as interested in being cute as you are in not being a dick. But lack of a working search tool rather sucks.
