All Japan Classics 173

Shunji Takano vs. Shinichi Nakano (9/15/89)

- Nothing going on here. The finish looked nice but no one cared. They end up tagging together next match.

Shunji Takano & Shinichi Nakano vs. Ricky Fuyuki & Toshiaki Kawada (All Asian Tag Title) (10/28/88)

- Man, both teams seemed to be working hard but the atmosphere just sucked all interest out of this match. I think the biggest problem is that Nakano and Takano are so void of personality that no one cares if they are winning or losing. Footloose are a great team but they don’t have a strong following either and we saw that creep up in the Cam-Am matches. Thankfully, those matches were still great. At one point, the crowd picks up and the action intensifies but they don’t keep it up and the crowd deflates. This isn’t a match that deserves a nomination.

Stan Hansen vs. Yoshiaki Yatsu (10/28/88)

- This starts off hot with Hansen going straight into brawling mode but loses steam midway through the match. However, Hansen hits the awesome Lariat to win.

Shunji Takano vs. Shinichi Nakano (9/15/89)

I dug both of these guys but I liked them better as a team than opponents.

All-Asian Tag Titles: Shinichi Nakano & Shunji Takano © vs. Footloose (Ricky Fuyuki & Toshiaki Kawada) (10/28/88)

These two teams had a pretty damn solid match at Korakuen 3 months earlier and there is another one nominated that I haven't seen yet so let's see how this one plays out. Funny seeing Fuyuki with a buzzcut and this was a spirited effort with both teams working hard but something was missing there for most of the match. The stretch run was really fun but not enough for a nomination.

Stan "The Lariat" Hansen vs. Yoshiaki Yatsu (10/28/88)

Hansen is on a rampage coming to the ring and continues it when entering the ring where he attacked Yatsu. Hansen pounded on Yatsu for quite a while before Yatsu made his comeback giving Hansen a taste of his own medicine. Next is some good back and forth action with Yatsu having Hansen on the ropes but Hansen would fire off an awesome lariat to win the match. Fun but not a nomination.
