Posted March 2, 200817 yr comment_5428895 Southern Tag Titles: The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) vs. The Bruise Brothers (Dream Machine & Porkchop Cash) (11/14/83) RnR is out to avenge Paul Morton’s injury suffered at the hands of the Bruisers and they come out firing on all cylinders rendering Dream a bloody mess. Fabs come out and attack Cornette as the action is going on in the ring then give him a spike piledriver on the floor. Jerry Calhoun is also down as the faces come out to pull the Fabs to the back. The match continues with Morton trying to get a pin on Dream as Chops KOed Gibson with a chain. Gibson would get back up though to the corner as Morton is getting beat down by the Bruisers. Dream is bleeding all over the ring but gets his shots in on Morton as well who just gets pounded for seemingly forever. Hart would come out and threw a chain to Dream who popped Morton to get the pin and win the titles. This was all about Cornette getting fucked up and Morton getting demolished but the action was great and I’m throwing this on the block.
March 2, 200817 yr comment_5428918 This started off fast and all but what the hell kind of sequence was Cash trying to botch there in the early moments? That might have been a deal breaker in a TV match but in a 15 minute match it isn't that big an issue. First few minutes are all RNR and Machine is busted open less than two minutes in. The RNR are fighting pissed and I like it. The stuff with Cornette at ringside distracted from the match but it was nice seeing Gibson take a bump when he wasn't even the focus of the camera. When the action returns, the Bruise are in control and Morton plays FIP. Thank God for Morton being such a sympathetic character because the Bruise Bros. aren't really inspiring me with their control segment. For a tag team, they don't do alot of things well together. In a change of pace, Morton never gets the hot tag so the ending felt abrupt. I'll give this a mild nominatioon because there was some good stuff but the quick ending never gave the crowd a chance to really pick the match up and the Bruise Bros. had some lackluster stretches.
June 22, 200817 yr comment_5432349 Man I am going to vote no on this, the Fabs beat down was something (and seemed really excessive, did Cornette rape Stan Lane's mother?), and I enjoyed the early hot R+R's section and the height that the Bruise Brothers got on all their stuff, but having Morton get beaten on that long and then just get pinned is a total buzzkill, too much of a cocktease to make a set
July 5, 200817 yr comment_5432670 I agree with Phil here. Their are some neat stuff, but the Morton beatdown was a buzzkill when he got pinned.
