Posted March 2, 200817 yr comment_5428934 Randy Savage vs. Ron Garvin (Cage Match) (ICW 6/84) - What the hell are they doing mat wrestling in a cage??? Ron makes it up by stomping the hell out of Randy's chest. Garvin uses his offense to control the first few minutes or so, never really elying on the cage but not able to do any real damage either. However, when Savage makes his comeback, he does it by using the cage as a weapon. This had blood, great punches, smart use of the cage and a SWEET finish. Garvin goes to the top rope but Savage crotches him on the turnbuckle. Garvin slumps over so Savage gets him and piledrives him while garvin was sitting on the turnbuckle. After the match, Pez Watley attacks Savage but Poffo makes the save while also doing the commentary. This is a nomination. Nikolai Volkoff vs. Bruiser Brody - This wasn't very good. Brody needs someone like Funk or Jumbo or Baba to make him appealing. Hoot Gibson, Ron Sexton, & Mr. Wrestling vs. The Knockdown Riders - This was nothing Angelo Poffo vs. Tony Falk - Poffo wins with a neckbreaker Pez Whatley vs. Jerry Eagle - Squash Mike Sharpe vs. The Italian Stallion - This had insane heat but was such an average match. Sharpe wins with the loaded forearm. Ronnie Garvin vs. Lanny Poffo - Garvin is so awesome. He is just abusing Poffo here. Poffo bridges up so Garvin just clubs him in the stomach. garvin gets a chinlock but puts his whole body on the rop for leverage. Just acting like a complete dick. You gotta love Lanny on commentary, "He introduces me to the concrete." When Garvin isn't control, he completely Larry Z's it and stalls and acts like a chickenshit. Nice spot when Poffo escapes a piledriver attempt with a backdrop but Garvin holds on and sunset flips him. After Lanny hit the moonsault, I thought the match was close to over but they wrestled for another 5 minutes. I thought garvin would have had an easier time but he was the one busted up and who barely escaped after using the chain to knock Poffo out and grab the countout win. Another fun Garvin match but the crowd hurt this one as it is kind of embarassing to lose a heat battle to an Italian Stallion match.
