Posted March 3, 200817 yr comment_5428978 Randy Savage vs. Rick Rude (9/3/84) - These two have an entertaining match without even locking up. Savage starts it off by not allowing Rude into the ring. He mouths off on the mic and throws popcorn all over Rude. They have a posing contest and finally engage in a test of strength to start the match. Shit, 5 minutes after the match has started, Rude throws Savage out after he gets distracted by Jimmy Hart and rams him into a pole at ringside. What I really like is what Jimmy hart brings to the match. He gives us the initial visual of Savage chasing him out of the arena. Later on, he distracts Savage for Rude to get his first advantage. He takes a chair away from Savage before he can hurt Rude. Hart is the MVP of the match. I don't think this match would be for everyone but I enjoyed the hell out of it. (Lynch 8.3)
March 8, 200817 yr comment_5429143 This match didn't do it for me. I feel it had more style than substance. It had some neat stuff in it, but just not enough good work between the ropes to merit a nomination.
May 24, 200817 yr comment_5431521 “Ravishing” Rick Rude vs. “Macho Man” Randy Savage (9/3/84) This was a first round match in a Cadillac Cup tournament in Memphis and the only time these two met in a singles match at Mid-South Coliseum. Savage is now a big babyface and Hart gets on his nerves early in the match so he chases him to the back but he would come back. There is a lot of stalling before we get some action with Savage getting Rude in an Airplane Spin that went on for a long time and Rude was so dizzy he fell through the ropes to the floor. Savage jumps on the ringside table and throws his confetti on Rude pissing him off and they get back in the ring. Savage is still pissed at Hart and invites him in the ring but he declines although he would distract Savage long enough for Rude to jump him throwing him to the floor. Rude would post Savage sending him to the concrete floor and gets back in the ring with help from Angelo. Rude continues his attack slamming Savage into the turnbuckle then drops him neck first on the top rope as Hart talks shit on the house mic. Rude kept the pressure on Savage until Savage would reverse an irish whip with a backdrop then started firing punches to his head. Savage then slammed Rude’s head into the turnbuckle repeatedly before grabbing him by the nose and sending him to the floor where he would hit his patented diving axehandle off the top rope. Savage then grabbed a chair but Hart would grab it from him so Savage sends the action back to the ring where he would hit a cross body block off the top rope but Paul Morton followed the chase of Angelo & Hart to the back. Bundy shows up and hits Savage with a foreign object which Rude follows up with an elbow smash for the win. This was fun stuff but not a nomination.
